This professor really goes out of his way for you, if you are willing to put in the effort. He has very generous office hours and is always willing to listen and answer questions. He is truly passionate about the subject and is very skilled in making such a difficult topic comprehend-able.

Great Professor! I took Native American law from Dr. Straughan. It was a challenging class, but a real eye opener for me. I learned so much about the mistreatment of Indian tribes. I would highly recommend others to take this class. Dr. Straughan is very knowledgeable and passionate about the law. He teaches without bias and is easy on the eyes.

Gene was my faculty advisor as well as my professor. He helped me to be a better critical thinker. To this day, Im deeply indebted to him. Hes one professor I truly respect and want to stay in contact with.

Dr. Straughan is brilliant. In his constitutional law class, I learned more about American history, government authority, and individual freedom than in my entire college experience. He makes the cases so easy to understand and he applies them to our daily lives. I cant wait to take another political science class from him.

Dr. Straughn is one of the smartest professors I have met. He is extremely knowledgable about his subjects and also is very funny. He lectures a lot in class but he makes it interesting to listen to. He is also there to help in any way he can. Definitely take a class from him if you can.

Amazing professor! Gene really knows his stuff. Tests are insanely hard and all essay, but he was always available via office hours and email to answer questions and help. Love his lectures! He's very easy on the ears and the eyes, too ;-)

Gene is an incredible professor! His classes are inspiring and really encourage you to think with new perspective. He is a super hero at understanding the law, Constitution, and justice system and explains them to mere mortals with great insight . He makes you work hard, but is always available to help. I'm a better person for taking his class.

Class is ridiculously hard! Literally the hardest class I have ever taken. Great guy though and amazingly intelligent, possibly one of the smartest guys I have ever met. But he only gives essay question tests. They're extremely hard and you must have tons of detail on them or he docks your grade in a major way. Interesting to listen to though.
