Dr. Parker was a fantastic professor. He is very respected in his field, and it shows because he is absolutely brilliant when it comes to history. His lectures are funny, interesting, and entertaining. His tests are essay based, which can be challenging as it requires you to read. But the class isn't challenging and a good GE.

I have recommended this class to all of my friends but most of them have covered their History GE. Dr. Parker's lectures are detailed, and he is very funny, clear, and shows his interest on the topics he covers. 10/10 would recommend, I will be missing his "jokes that you won't be able to repeat ever again" (direct quote from his last lecture).

One of the most interesting lectures i have ever had. Buying the textbook is not necessary for this easy his 111 class. Exams are just one essay question and not graded by parker but by his ta's. If you like montey python and mel brooks sign up for this guy, hes a riot.

First of all, hist111 is an intro class and I think there are way too much works for intro level. The lecture and recitation have its own readings sometimes the materials covered in lecture may not be the same for recitation. For history major students I highly recommend this class since there are lot of readings.

this guy is awesome, his lectures are actually really interesting and he loves to throw in movie clips between slides. cracks jokes during class too. i honestly enjoy his lectures everyday. i highly recommend him.

I took the Reformation class from him last year. It was awesome. He is a very entertaining and engaging lecturer. Lectures the first half, break, then discussion of reading. Read the coursepack documents, but the book isn't strictly necessary. Its just good to give an alternate position to Parker's own. He also helps outside of class. TAKE HIM

The worst part about the class are the exams: essay format, so i suggest reading the books and having a good grip on ALL the material. Class is interesting, lectures are not really necessary, just keep up on all the readings, cause there's a lot of material to cover.

Dr. Parker is a great lecturer, very knowledgeable. He reminds me of one of those historians on the Discovery Channel. The tests are hard because they're essay format, so you actually have to read the textbook. Overall, I enjoyed this class.

Whoever wrote that 1st response is a dumbass. This is a wonderful class. Yes, you have to read AND study, but it totally pays off! The TA's are great, very helpful. These people are NOT out to get you they want you to do well. I HIGHLY recommend this prof. to anyone!
