Comment:

Laughs every five seconds and is very distracting. She missed one month of class yet took off massive points for one class that was missed due to my health. Did not enjoy this class at all.

She really wants her students to succeed. Never kept us in class the full time, had online tests, and generally a very caring teacher. Offers a lot of extra credit opportunities and all of her homework assignments were just brief write-ups and familiarizing with the chapters we discussed in class so we could keep up.

I had Kalivas for Text Principal Fashion designer. She is kind of terrible at teaching in my opinion, but other students seemed to think she was super funny. Her lectures are all over the place and we once watched llama videos for 30min. The tests are online and out of class so it's easy to pass.

Comment:

I like Prof Kalivas A LOT!!! She is very sweet and helpful. If you really want to learn, this Textile survey course is not that easy, as therere much to read, understand and memorize, but Prof explains very clearly. This class is an easy A. She gives many extra credits, and all the tests are online. Only one project, half individual half group.

Georgia is your hilarious Greek Aunt! I took her night class and LOVED it. She explains clearly and will answer any question, no matter how off topic, (we watched videos about silkworms for 30 min!) the class is a conversation. Takes you to the labs, extra credit, open book online tests + final, one project. Works in sustainability and shares exp.

Great professor who is passionate about what she does and has a lot of experience in her field. If you're an FD major its a required second semester class. She understands our work load and is very lenient. All tests are online, we received a few homework assignments and one project. She is also a very fair grader.

One of the worst professors I have ever had. Extremely rude to students and pretends not to know she is rude. She makes fun of student's names, teases them about knowing the answer to tough questions and doesn't accept answers to in class assignments if they are correct but not what she had written down. It was a 4 hour class with no break.

Prof. Kalivas is passionate about what she teaches & has a great personality. You need the textbook & swatch kit. The content of the class is very interesting, so take advantage of it & learn from it! Six tests, all online. Do the study questions ahead of time for extra credit. There's a Term project (Part A & B). Be curious and ask questions. :)

omg does she love to laugh. youll laugh at how much she laughs. 6-7 quizzes but all online. no big midtermfinal. One term project. Because the tests are online you dont really have to learn so if you want to learn you have to be motivated. Overall nice and passionate teacher.

I LOVED Professor Kalivas. She was super sweet and nice, drops your lowest test grade, all tests online. Never a penalty for late tests or work. Cares about you learning more than grades, so she's a v lenient grader. She knows it's a long class, makes it fun. V passionate about textiles. Overall lovely professor and I hope I can take her again.

Professor Kalivas is such a sweet person. She understands if you can't turn something in on time. A lot of students talk while she is teaching, do her a favor and tell them to shut it. All tests were online, and textbooks are a NEED for this class. She makes textiles simple, and takes her time teaching. Bring a coffee to this class, it's four hours

Comment:

Textiles is a very difficult and tedious subject to take, but it is required by FIT. Prof. Kalivas is extremely nice, and is looking to help her students. It's a hard course to take online, but if you need to take it online it is very doable! You'll need the textbook and swatch kit. Good Luck.

She is really sweet and tries really hard to make the class interesting. She was nice enough to video tape herself with her iphone and put lectures up online to get some "facetime." The subject matter isn't incredibly interesting but she is so nice that it really doesn't matter.

Great professor! I really enjoyed going to her class because she was just a ball of energy. The great thing about professor kaliva is that she understands that college students have a lot of pressure to get a good grade on a midterm and final that determines their overall grade, and because of this she gives quizzes/tests every other week.

She's very nice, and I think she's too nice coz she never yell at the loud kids in my class. Although textile is not a very interesting class to take, but she did make the subject as easy as possible. She's also very organized on everything. But she gives a test on EVERY chapter so DO NOT miss any class! And prepare for the Eco-friendly project.
