Comment:

one word, tough. He expects you to come to class prepared and ready. His class is challenging and the hardest I had but it made me think critically and use what I had learned previously. Group assignment is annoying but useful. Stay on top of due dates and cases!!! Start cases a week early, read multiple times. Good grades are possible if you work!

Dr. Barksdale is tough! At first I thought omg I am not going to pass and I won't graduate, but after I got the hang of it it got better. You can do it if you get ready for class, read the cases and communicate with him. Respect him and he will respect you. It is a hard class but hey, you are about to have Bachelor in Marketing, what do you expect?

Comment:

Avoid taking him if you care about your mental health. This class was the hardest I have ever taken. The fact that he makes you feel stupid, it really is hard to enjoy this class. You will have a huge group project throughout the semester, with weekly case analyses. He will call you out if you aren't participating in the discussion.

Im not being dramatic. Do literally EVERYTHING in your power to avoid him. Seriously. If you cant find another professor, then wait until the next semester. He is RUUUUUUDE. He raises his voice and uses profanity when hes mad at students. The worst part is that hes so disrespectful but you really cant say anything because he might drop you.

I know hardcore professors when I see them. I actually love them, but Dr. Barksdale is not hardcore. He is blatantly rude and disrespectful. He is getting even more old so he tends to say things wrong or forget what he said. When you ask him to clarify things, he is aggressive and rude. Tip: Do not ask him anything. He is the absolute worst!

The most most important comment to make about Dr. Barksdale is not that he is hard, but the fact that he does everything in his power to make you feel stupid. I can handle a tough class, not the issue. He's an ass to prove a point that it's "hard in the real world". Very discouraging, not clear with direction. The worst professor I have ever taken.

This class is HARD! Expect to give 120% if you want a solid grade. This isn't because Dr. Barksdale is unreasonable but because it is what an employer will expect of you after graduation. Prof. Barksdale will not coddle you, he will insult you if you come to class unprepared. Be an adult, do your work and you will be successful in the class.

While I may not have enjoyed the workload while in the class, looking back I find this class useful for your career. Don't expect to just breeze through this course, it's definitely not for the faint of heart. You are not only required to answer questions in this class, but you must be able to justify them, which I believe is an invaluable skill.

Absolutely worst professor I have ever had in my life. Treats students with no respect what-so-ever. Honestly surprised this man still has a job. I had a death in the family and informed him I would be missing class for the funneral. He made me feel as if I was a bad person for missing class to go to a family members funneral. Absolutely ridiculous

Words that describes professor Barksdale are: RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, TOUGH. Do not expect to learn anything new at his class. All the cases are outdated in fact he has been using the same ones for the past few years! He waste pretty much 40 minutes of each class insulting students knowledge and work. AVOID AT ANY COST!!!

Reading the reviews below makes me wonder if we are talking about the same professor. Dr. Barksdale is the worst instructor at GSU. He is rude, disrespectful, arrogant and so on. You will learn nothing because we are suppose to know everything from your metrics class. The cases are old and he will never teach how he came up with his solutions.

Barksdale runs his class without training wheels. Unfortunately, most students still prefer to have their hands held as you read below.You earn your grade in his class, which is what you should expect from any class. Great professor that keeps GSU standards high. GSU needs more professors like Barksdale.

He may not be the most popular teacher, but he is undeniably effective. This course is intense and not an easy course. Dr. Barksdale leave you no room for slack. He has extremely high standards (as it should be!) I don't know how fair he is in his grading, but if you do your work, you will be ok. If you're a slacker, you're screwed.

Dr. Barksdale is the best teacher at GSU. He expects a high level of analysis and work ethic but he'll prepare you for the real world. This class is super hard and you will hate it. If you do your homework, you'll be fine. He can be really nice if you give him a chance and actually make meaningful contributions to the case discussions.

If you take this class prepare for a hit to your GPA. He grades the hardest I've seen at Georgia State which is unfair being that he expects you to know how to use analysis you've never been exposed to before. He does not like to teach so don't expect it.

A completely incompetent ****. Useless, ineffective teaching from a crusty, miserable old d-bag. He licks his lips when he talks to guys. It wouldn't hurt him to wear a pair of post-Soviet era eyeglasses every once in a while either. Btw, I got an A in his class, so this is not baseless criticism.

Absolutely nothing has changed. Dr Barksdale is miserable and misery loves company. If you take his class he will make sure he has plenty of company. I was miserable the whole time. Only the project was fun, in addition he sucks at grading. Run run far away from his class...Trust Me or your GPA will drop!
