Harada Sensei unorganized at times, forgetful, and unforgiving if you miss a quiz but she's always trying to improve. She means well, but I've learned how busy she is. She plays violin professionally, studies, and leads the entire department. She highlights what's on the tests in class, so pay attention and study her lecture structure.

Harada doesn't care if you work 2 jobs & are a fulltime student. She cant keep track of her own schedule/syllabus, doesn't clearly cover the material in class. She mocks students in class, does not respond to emails, even with medical emergencies she didn't excuse any absences. My main issue was her lack of compassion & lack of clarity in lessons

Her courses are conducted in a way that would be frustrating under any other professor: constant quizzes, frequently revising scheduled assignments, the list goes on. But it works for Harada-sensei because you can tell that in the end, she just wants you to learn as much Japanese as humanly possible. But just humor her, and you'll do okay.

One of the worst teachers I've ever had. She gave us the wrong syllabus for the 1st week of class. She gets confused and quizzes us on material we haven't covered. The way she covers material is very confusing and she never goes in depth. Not understanding of personal situations. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU HAVE SOCIAL ANXIETY OR A BUSY SCHEDULE!!

Harada is an extremely tough grader. Over half the class received D's or lower on almost every test. She grades your homework not on how well you do it, but how well you correct your own work. She barely goes over material in class, so read each chapter before you get there,

I had her for two whole semesters for JPN 201-202 and started 301 but dropped quickly. Every semester she messes up the syllabus and has at least one test with random material that she knows we didn't study for our learn about but still grades. There's a quiz every class and then a test every two weeks. Her class is passable though, not the worst

Lots of homework and tests! Showing up is crucial to passing. She was helpful when asked, but class periods tended to only go over homework and then the basics of the next grammar lesson. Don't be afraid to get her attention though because she seems eager to teach and has a great sense of humor.

Lots of tests and homework is due almost every time you come to class. There are also lots of ten point quizzes on kanji and vocabulary, so make sure to study because this is an easy way to lose a lot of points or gain a lot of points. Despite the work load, she is a great teacher and has a good sense of humor.

She is terrible to memorize something even students' name and face and forces students into having nice image and good things of Japan which is her country. Sometimes rude and is not responsible. If you ask her something you won't be able to get an answer fast or even at all because she thinks she doesn't have to. She was the worst ever.

Drills drills drills. 11 hours of class per week is a *lot*. Summer semester is intense stuff; half the class dropped. Harada will not let you wiggle away from speaking, even for a test. It's a good thing. Really! Don't expect to learn a language without speaking and making mistakes. As long as you stay on top of it, the class is easy.

Great teacher! The other people who commented that she spends too much time in the book haven't gone to her classes recently, she is using online resources and other activites WAY more now. However, I still liked the book work. The class is not too challenging as long as you do the work.

Harada is a really great teacher. But don't expect her classes to be a cakewalk. She expects you to be ready for class and do the work. That being said though she also is glad to give explainations too.

I dare you to find a more challenging but rewarding professor. If you take her 310 reading and essay class you will learn more chinese characters than you ever thought possible. She's challenging and will push you to do well. Shes very personal & will clarify your questions if need be. Recommended!

Dr. Harada's classes are very challenging, but you will learn a lot. I took Japanese 102 and 201 with her. She will e-mail you back immediately, although she is a very busy person. Dr.Harada is very funny.
