JP is a cultured and knowledgable man. Take advantage of this. I learned the most from him during informal conversations. He's lived all over and experienced many unique things, pick his brain, I was surprised by how much I learned. I can't recommend this study abroad class enough. As far as I know, the only trip that goes to the UAE. Easy A.

Contrary to other commenters, I really did not enjoy taking French 201 and 202 with Jean Pierre. He expected the world from all of us constantly. I participated every day and tried my best, but it never seemed to be enough. If he taught us something once, he expected we had it memorized immediately even if it was a difficult concept.

JP is great if you really enjoy learning the french language and culture. If you just take his class because you have to, he will know you dont care. You speak at least 5-10 times a class and its great practice. The online homework is annoying but I know he mentioned ditching it.

JP has a lot of experience and wants to share it with his students. That's Me in the Corner is a great seminar and it really opens your eyes to the things going on around you in the world. You give one presentation and the rest of the semester is sitting and listening to other students and getting involved in ethical discussions. Highly recommend.

Jean-Pierre is the best! Genuinely excited and glad that I get to have him for French 202. He wants you to learn about more than just the language, he believes culture is important too. He is really funny and it is cool that from time to time we get to help him with some English sayings that he never understood. Highly recommend French with him!

One of my favorite professors at ISU. He really cares about you learning the language and everything that he does is to help you feel comfortable with the language. He's also really funny and makes me actually want to go to class. If you skip class on days where he teaches grammar you will be lost. I wish that I could have him teach all my classes.

Jean-Pierre taught exactly the way I believe languages should be taught, and as an aspiring multilingual, I have very strong opinions on how to do so. If you want to learn French, take his class, and take it seriously. You'll learn more in a semester than many do in years.

Jean-Pierre was the best language professor I've ever had. He's a native speaker so you can always trust his pronunciation, and he's great guy to boot! He expects you to put some effort into the work he assigns, but it really is assigned to help you learn, not just to keep you busy. Switch into his section if you can!

Jean-Pierre taught this class like an actual French class. It was a little unstructured at times but at the end you realize you've learned a lot without even thinking. He's a cool guy and funny. He cares a lot about students and wants everyone to learn. Go to class as much as you can and do work outside of class he will like you for that.

I took 101 and 102 from JP. He's a great teacher and grades not only on performance but also how much you try. There is tons of in-class participation which makes it fun and easy to learn in his class. His jokes are pretty dry and rather hilarious. He teaches you how to say things you would actually need when traveling/living in France.

Jean-Pierre est magnifique! I had J.P. for two classes during my time at ISU (2003-2006), and he accompanied students on a study abroad trip. He is a native French speaker. Thus, his pronunciation is perfect. More impressive is his caring nature, and effective teaching approach. Needs to be promoted to Professor. He is the best Fr. teacher at ISU!

Jean-Pierre is wonderful, I had him during a summer session. He made coming to class at 8:40 in the morning during the summer holiday actually fun!!! I thought he was very funny (although some might find his humor offinsive- its mostly self depricating) He really loves to teach and comes accross brilliantly. I reccommend him highly.

He's a really cool guy. Right at the beginning of the semester he tells you exactly what he expects from you. Every day he makes you laugh, and he just makes French something fun to learn. Be prepared to participate every day- he'll make everyone speak at least two or more times.
