She is a very inspirational professor, and really knows what she is talking about. She gives many extra credit opportunities throughout the semester and always encourages individuals to speak up about their opinions in class. There was quite a lot of reading, but it paid off for the midterm and final. I would recommend taking her.

HORRIBLE "professor" - she will make you think that you guys have a great relationship, but then will hurt your grade! Also, if you don't share her opinions and ideas, then don't even try to talk in class because it will not be heard.

Best professor I'll ever have! She really cares about her students who care about her class. She is a little hard to get in touch with but you just have to go the extra mile to create a personal relationship with her if you want to succeed in the class.

She is not an easy grader, but as long as you write as if your only audience is middle schoolers, you should be fine. You just have to show her you care (even if you don't). She is a GREAT and fun person, but a very professional professor. Her tests are all a regurgitation of the class notes and readings.

Really passionate about what she does & inspires you to be more aware of ethical issues near & far to home. Makes you think about issues never thought of before. However, please come to this class with exceptional college approved writing skills bc she will ink-red your paper like no other professor has done before. Harsh grader but learned a lot.

(USP) Very liberal, but very open to other people's opinions and makes sure everyone is heard. Keep up with the readings because the final is all readings even though the class is more of an open forum for discussion. 10-15 page research paper sounds more daunting than it is. As long as you utilize her extended time frame properly it's doable

Very knowledgeable professor however, she is very bias. Focuses mainly on women's issues. I took her for intro to criminal justice and i'd say 60% of the class was based on women issues. If you don't agree with her views, you should just keep them to yourself. Write and talk about things she cares and agrees with and you'll do fine. Overall, a dece

While Professor Flavin definitely holds very liberal views, she is strongly self-aware of this fact. I have never seen her be anything but extremely open to students expressing any view they may have. Also, she is a kind, intelligent, and energetic teacher -- one of Fordham's best. Not an easy class, but a worthwhile one for all majors.

Students should disregard the negative comments about this professor. Quite possibly one of the best, most interesting professors I've encountered in college. Class lectures are interesting and informative, and enhanced through the use of humor. Genuinely cares about students...tough but fair grader.

my favorite professor in my 4 years there. i took her as a soph.I agree w/the comment below though:that's she not conservative, but i guess i'm not either. 1 reason i probably DID enjoy her class so much was because FU isn't really a very liberal place.
