Comment:

He's a tough grader because he wants to give good feedback and makes you a better writer. Take notes on his lectures (not that heavy) and apply it to the essays! 3 essays are 2-3 pages & 4th is 6-7 pages. High school taught me nothing, he actually taught me how to write a thesis, and a 5 paragraph format. Highly respected, should be a comedian!

This class seems very tough at the beginning there are 4 papers the first 2 papers you can rewrite. There are 2 written exams the midterm and the final. He is a tough grader but only because he wants you to become a better writer. There are many classes you dont need to go to he will lyk . If you stick it out until the end you will pass his class!

Comment:

Funniest professor I've had so far, so it makes it easier to sit through lectures plus he usually lets class out early. Grade solely based off your essays, but if you make the corrections, you should be fine.

Comment:

This class was great! There are 4 essays that make up your grade that increase in difficulty overtime. Baker really makes you work for your grade, but gives great feedback on how to improve. His demeanor can throw you off, but stick with it!! This is one of the best english classes I have ever take. He approves thesis before starting the essay.

Comment:

Baker was a fantastic teacher. At first he may seem like a hard ass, but the more you get to know him the more you understand he really cares about his students. I am not going to lie, the class was challenging, but by working hard you will get a lot out of this class. I highly recommend you take Baker's class.

Baker was difficult. 4 essays...1 of which is a research paper based on a hard to read book. He expects a lot from you but if you give him what he is asking for in his essay prompts you will do well. That being said, a lot of his discussions are off topic and boring. Does NOT use canvas which is annoying.

Baker was my first ever professor at Moorpark College. I'm about to be done with junior college, but I still use what Baker taught me even a year and a half after I took his class. He really teaches you how to read critically, and it's extremely useful. His class takes effort, but it's worth it. Wish I could take him again, but I'm done with MP.

Jeff Baker is an excellent professor. He cares a lot about his students and you get great feedback from him. He does his grades based off of 4 essays. And a few quizzes books are mandatory. If you show up to class and ask him for help you will get a solid grade. I am not the best writer, but he has helped me out on improving my work.

Baker cares about having his students become great at making solid essays. He has a lot of spunk and sassy-ness to him. My only downside for him is that he does not post any grades and we do not get our essays back until 3 weeks after they have gotten turned it. Pretty much your grade is just based on the 4 essays and a couple quizzes.

I'm moving on from Moorpark College soon, but Baker is one of the best and one of the most memorable professors I've ever had. He was not afraid to express his opinions and let the class do the same. His grading was clear and concise, and his feedback was phenomenal. I would love to have another class with him if I weren't leaving soon!

Took Baker's class back around 2000 @ CSUN. Hands down one of most inspiring intellectual university experiences week in and out - a renaissance intellectual... kind of like one of Pynchon's hero characters ... was inspiration for getting a phd and becoming an academic... and behind the touch class and class charisma, a truly solid big hearted guy.

I've taken Baker's class twice now and I have to say, I already miss his class! It was truly one of the most memorable that I've ever taken. Although he may seem like he could be a character from Breaking Bad, in actuality he is a really nice person and someone who truly cares about his students. I recommend him highly. Baker, you are inspiring!

Baker is a fun, insightful, and often hilarious professor. He may not be for everyone; he is loud, sarcastic, and foul-mouthed (all aspects of his personality that I enjoy). He encourages his students to lead discussion, form their own opinions, and defend those opinions. He also presents his own (usually brilliant) interpretations when needed.

Jeff Baker is a phenomenal professor! He is very helpful and understanding when it comes to the course and material, he has been in your shoes before!!! I would recommend this class to everyone, not only for the enjoyment of his company but for lessons and knowledge that goes beyond English! Thank you Jeff Baker!!!

Don't waste your time taking this class. Baker is the least helpful professor I have ever taken. He is extremely unprofessional and immature. He lets class out early which is cool, but he does not use class time efficiently, and goes off on tangents that are not worthwhile. I learned nothing from this class, waste of time and money. DO NOT TAKE

Baker is the best professor I have EVER had. He is intimidating at first, but he's just trying to get the students out that don't want to be there. He is HILARIOUS and his lectures are super interesting and inspiring. He lets class out early pretty much every class, and the A isn't too hard to get. Overall he's an amazing professor.

Honestly, he is the BEST professor I have EVER HAD. If you do not take his class, you are missing out! He really knows what he is talking about and gives terrific feedback on papers. Some of the most inspiring lectures I have ever heard! I always enjoyed reading but he made me love it!! Also, he is one of the funniest professors you'll ever have.

May seem scary at first, but honestly he really does care about his students. Even if English isn't your best subject, as long as you are willing to put in the effort and ask for help you will pass. Baker is hilarious and makes the class fun. He let's you re-write most of his essay's and gives great feedback. Take his class!! :)
