Sadly, the prof left towards the end of the term on sick leave & was replaced by someone w a totally different approach to the material. Prof Brayton was funny, enthusiastic, & selected memorable clips appropriate to course topics. Would highly recommend her whenever she returns to teach this class again.

Hated this professor. Despite doing well at the end of it, the course description was misleading and the class not what I expected - and Professor Brayton was even worse. Cancelled many classes, provided unclear instructions for her assignments, marked unfairly as a result and took up class time talking about her personal life. AVOID at all costs.

If you're looking for an easy A, take the other prof or take this class online. The essays you have to write are confusing and instructions and clarification from prof and TA did not make it any easier to write. I attended every lecture and they were decent but I have no idea what I was supposed to take from the class. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU WANT AN A.

If you like anything pop culture, then you will enjoy this class. The essay was a bit difficult as you had to do an outline and annotated bibliography. However, the examples in class are always good and relevant and the midterms are quite easy. Overall, good class.

Unclear on grades and too wordy for directions on essays. Not focused in class discussion therefore goes off topic and a lot of time. alot of examples of entertainment without any relevance to sociology or using terminology. Class was frustrating and very dragged out , no structure and exam heavy on content and terms never covered

Very nice, understanding and helpful professor. Class is interesting although some of the lectures could get a bit dull. Essay marking was slightly hard, but was given very good and helpful comments on the essay proposal. Easy tests and tutorials are very helpful. Textbook necessary.

Awesome prof, one of my best and I received the highest grade from this class out of the others I took this semester. Paying attention in class is helpful and attending the mandatory tutorials are good too because you get 10 EASY marks by doing so!

I had pop culture with Brayton and she's terrific. Extremely clear and really knows her content, barely reads of notes and super clear with her explanations and expectations. She is really passionate which doesn't make her lectures boring. Shows lots of videos and posts ALL her material on blackboard!! One essay, midterm and final exam. Choose her!

Not a bad class, really interesting...but as a business student, u get kinda bored. Tutorials are mandatory but useful. Essay is fun but start earlier, really hard to get sources. Prof is good, but at times focuses more on the topics that interest her. Its a fun course, she gives lecture notes as well and reviews all essays herself :S

LOVE HER! The class was awesome! I watch tv and movies differently. She is such a great prof, very kind and extremely helpful. Go to see her for clarification and she'll help you! Class was easy but you've got to go to lectures and read the articles! Tests are easy if you do that.

Jennifer is great =) Read the pop culture readings! half of the midterm/final will be on it...going to the tutorials without reading it does NOT guarantee that they'll cover everything that u need to know. i never missed the class cuz a) it was really interesting b) u never know what might be on the exam through verbal explanataion. awesome course!
