I think he is retiring so this may not be helpful, but if he isn't, here ya go. Your only grades are tests. That should say enough. He is really adorable and nice, but I hated the class.

Comment:

Tests could be difficult, but we knew they would be. During class he informed us of specifics regarding tests and outside of class he sent emails reminding us to prepare well. It wasn't difficult, just time consuming because there was a lot of material. Also, lectures don't matter at all. Just memorize what's in green on the powerpoints.

Comment:

Dr Leavell is a good professor in the way that he engages students during class and makes history, which can be a very dry subject, interesting and alive. However, his tests are extremely difficult and do not reflect what was learned in class. He grades only on three tests. literally nothing else. I would study for 10-15 hours and not do well.

Dr. Level makes class interesting and easy to remember. He is very clear about what will be on the test and he is a fair grader. He is very good at relating premodern Japan to modern America, which is really helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Awesome history experience...the way history SHOULD be taught...allowing students to absorb and reflect thoroughly upon the material. Other faculty should take cues from his style and workload. Expect to work; expect to be rewarded. Make a special effort to take his class!

This man is one the best professors on Furman campus. He is also a really great guy, he wants to be your friend, not just your professor. Really funny and a great storyteller, has to be one of the best at Furman, would take him as much as possible. Love this man.

One of the best profs on Furman campus, knows a TON about western civ and its not even his specialty. Only grades are tests and if you take notes in class and study about 2 hours for each test an A or B is easy. Take this prof, he's the man. Very hot and great dresser as well

Covers all the material in class that you need to know on tests. Not a lot of reading. Very nice and funny. Good looking too! The test are a bit hard but if you study then there should be no problem. overall, i would recommend him
