Comment:

Professor Huck is the best, I would definitely recommend taking him. He is so nice and really wants his students to succeed. There are many reading quizzes but he is very accommodating if you get close to the answer.

Prof Huck is so so nice! He's very funny and loves to engage with students during class. He's an easy grader and is also very understanding when it comes to assignments and work. He's knowledgeable about Latin America and has tons of anecdotes to share with the class. Most of the class are short discussions and then going to dinner with the group.

Great individual and professor! He is a fair grader as long as you put the work in and his homework assignments are not excessive. Our class was discussion based and the discussions were always well lead and insightful. The wide variety of readings led me to consider different perspectives. He cares a lot about his students.

dont be fooled by the other posts into thinking that this class will be an easy A. Huck gives out tons and tons of reading each week, and with discussion boards, blogposts, and other things mandatory each week, the workload definitely can get to you. Also the quizzes each week are pretty specific, so reading and attendance are mandatory.

Went with Jimmy to El Salvador and got to know him very well. Although our political views diverge, I learned a lot from him. He is extremely dedicated and I consider him a friend, beyond professor.

Possibly my all-time favorite professor. He has a contagious enthusiasm for Latin America and seemingly endless knowledge. Charming and funny,this aries is a member of the Thoth Krewe and will hook you up big time come Mardi Gras. If only for this, take Jimmy's class - you are guaranteed to enjoy it.

Easy-going, overall amazing teacher. Grading based on reading responses, attendance, webblog, discussion, country profile report, but mostly on service learning. No tests/quizzes. Reading is essential, and sometimes long, but you can BS by reading other's reponses on blackboard. Definitely my favorite teacher so far.

Really nice guy, interesting discussion based class.. any honors kid should try to take his LAST 101 class... you don't REALLY learn anything but it's pretty fun anyways, got me to declare it as a minor. Also, I'm not positive if getting below an A is possible if you just show up and turn things in.

Great teacher, knows his stuff, very funny and interesting, and has a unique format for his class that makes it one of the best at Tulane, at least in the LAST department. He even took us out to eat! There's a bit of work, mostly interesting reading and blackboard posts, but he grades easily.

If you're going to be taking Lat Am Stud, you should def try to squeeze in one of Prof Huck's courses. Definitely my fav prof here! He really tries to make sure that you not only understand but do well in his class. I'm def taking him next semester.

Awesome....my favorite professor. Super helpful, and he really cares about what you think and how well you do on tests. He actually understands that your grade is a reflection of his grade as a teacher.
