Very fair and lovely person, has a lot to talk about and cares for her students a lot. Didn't get a lot of technical advices, but the moral and creative ones made up for it. I'd definitely recommend her.

Joanne is THE BEST teacher in the world. She sets the bar high, but if you work hard and show her you care, it really pays off. She's funny and entertaining and class is always fun with her. HIGHLY RECOMMEND JOANNE!

Comment:

One of the best professors I had. She's always there for you and genuinely cares about your work. Her critiques are especially helpful; she's honest and fair, and does not take B.S. from students. (i.e. challenges us to push ourselves artistically) Her passion for teaching shines through in every class, even when grumpy. Great sense of humor, too.

Joanne is the best teacher I've ever had. She is a difficult grader, but extremely fair--she makes sure to weigh her decisions on various levels to give students the best grade they deserve. She's always willing to help and great to talk to, and she really cares about both subject and students. I can't think of a way to improve her teaching.

Joanne is the professor to take if you are serious about your craft. If you are going to slack off, come late and not participate leave the class for someone else because she is in demand. She will challenge you to become the best artist you can be. I honestly enjoyed every moment of every class even when she critiqued my work.

I loved this class and i felt that i learned a lot. you can really tell that she loves teaching, and does it because she wants to, not because she has to. She encourages you to do well, and is approachable if you have a problem. She is my favorite professor so far. Don't show up late to to class

Without a doubt the worst teacher I had at NYU. She actually told me that if I didn't do things her way I would fail at NYU and life.Has her favorites and if you are not one she will make your life hell. Take CCR's class instead!
