I took ESL 5A with Joe Ryan. What a wonderful class. I came early and stayed late, and he was always easy to listen to and fun to learn with. If you are an ESL student, forget the other teachers at this school, and do anything to get into one of Ryan's classes. You will love it and learn so much.

I have never met a teacher like Mr. Ryan. He made every class so much fun. He is funny, he cares, and he teaches you a lot. He made me believe that I could read, write and speak English, and responded to all of my questions every day. He treated everyone fairly. He makes everyone feel delighted.

The best teacher and the most fun class I have ever taken. He is funny, inspiring, hard working and will help you become a much better speaker, reader and writer of English. Nobody drops this class once in it, so making friends is a good thing.

My interest in the Bible was not very high before this class. Now, I believe that I know a lot about the Bible. Still don't want to read it much. But this professor is fantastic. Every class sparkled because of his wit and humor and knowledge of the subject. He would answer any question with liveliness and cheer. Great class/professor.

There's nothing wrong with Prof. Ryan, he's a down to earth humorous man. He tried his best to make the class interesting but it just wasn't. I think it being a combination of a boring subject, a 3 hr class, & late night is what made it so hard to get thru - half the class is asleep. I wouldn't rec. this class unless you want to work in ministry.
