Comment:
If you want to pass or maintain your GPA do not take this professor. It is sad that the highest grade in our class was 43. Please for your sake do not do this to your self because you will waste money on buying a book he claims is for class but the majority of the time his lectures are on his opinions.

What ever you do, do not take a class with this professor. Last quiz had 150 pages of notes to do in a week for a 30 question, 30 minute quiz. The quizzes are also highly opinion based and he doesn't hold the same stance on all topics making it very difficult. Also most of the information is outdated. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Took the hybrid version of the class. He would assign at least 3-4 chapters to read and would only discuss one part of the reading and would leave the rest up to up to us to figure out what the material was discussing. His tests were based more on his own opinion rather than material read.

I wouldnt recommend taking this professor. It was difficult for me to take notes in that class because he doesnt write on the board or use a PowerPoint and he often goes on long tangents that make it confusing as to what to write down. There are only four tests that make up your grade and his tests are pretty hard.

I took him once when I was a freshman in college and made a D in his philosophy 1301 course. This semester I decided to retake the course, with the same teacher and ended up making a B. As long as you show minimal effort you WILL make a good grade. Study hard. Over all I think he is a good teacher. Take good notes and study them and you'll be fine.

Although there is no assignments there are only four quizzes that determine your grade. Too much material for a summer course and the podcast are super long as well as out of date. The lectures mention Obama just being elected which was in 2009. You have to read, listen intensely, and look over extra material. Also, lots of coughing during lecture.

Just don't. Took it online in the summer and wish I would have waited to take a different prof during the semester. Only four grades (30 minutes, 30 question tests), no extra credit, and you have to remember EVERY single thing from lecture and readings. Online podcasts/lectures uploaded from previous years so you don't get recent information.

Although this class is supposed to be one of the simple intro level courses, it had far more reading than some of my advanced classes. The teacher gives no reviews and the tests are completely based off of the reading so you basically have to remember every single thing that you read no matter how small the detail because the test could be anything

The grading was solid and allowed for mistakes. However, the material that was tested upon was unclear and confusing. Personality wise, he's great but the teaching aspect was missing for me. I took the tests often confused. Although, I did decent, and the material was very interesting, I would avoid the class.

I didn't like this class. It wasn't required for my major but it sounded interesting, so I decided to take it. Our only grades were three tests and the final, and class work was discussion over the readings in the book. Dr. G is very nice, but unless you're into deep thinking and discussion, I wouldn't recommend this course.

This class is difficult to understand and the readings are beyond ridiculous. Far more ridiculous than an American Lit class. I'm not recommending this class at all.

Makes you work your butt off in his class. I took him for Philosophy and his tests were next to impossible to pass. However, because he is from Scotland he has different ideas on the grading system and if you put forth an effort and can back up what you say in class you will be rewarded in the end. You have to back up your ideas or else.

The guy undoubtedly knows what he's talking about, but it's all based on opinion. Not very clear on some things, but he does have interesting stories and occasionally shows movies. Tests aren't too bad if you do the reading, but I would never take him again.

He is really goofy sometimes but can also put you to sleep. If you take his class, try and take it online. It is the same material and everything you just don't have to go to class. He lectures right out of his notes online.

The professor is very opinionated and I found a lot of his political classes turned into a formal debunking of Christian "myths." His class is to "develop more mature ways of thinking..." and "to have a deeper sense of YOUR own core values" - his syllabus. But the exams show that you have to have had understood what he teaches in class to be truth.

I hated this class. Although he gives you the lectures they are hard to follow. His test are very opinion based and hardly any of what is discussed in class in on the test. A lot of the test is from the book which is never discussed. Will not hesitate to make you feel stupid in class. Also expects that you are an expert on current politics.

Glassford has opinions, which he has thoroughly considered, and he expects students to justify their opinions. If you expect to get a good grade for being hardworking, he is not the prof for you. Glassford is all about substance. PROVE what you know, and PROVE your argument, and you will do well. Don't expect him to praise you for baseless work.

I would highly recommend not taking him. He's very opinionated with ridiculously hard tests that are only 30 questions. He seems nice enough in class, but he's rude in his office when you ask for help.
