Bit of a madman. Focuses heavily on formal grammatical structure in our language tutorial. Doesn't seem to care about participation in class so much as he does papers. Talks a lot, and has a sometimes overbearing personality. It's easy to get away with not talking, but he does manage to encourage that you talk without putting you on the spot.

Mr. Tomarchio taught me how to write a St. John's paper, which has been extremely helpful. You learn tons in his class.

I had him his 2nd year of teaching Soph.Math, and I could tell that he had come a long way. He was excited to show up shortcuts and connections that would be helpful as we went through Ptolemy and Appolonius. He has a good knack for finding theoretical questions about whatever proposition we're looking at. Wonderful teacher.

I got on his bad side. Other than that, he has an excellent knowledge of language overall, but not such a great knowledge of French. Also, he is a liguist by training, and has difficulty believing that anyone could have trouble with language in general (like myself), or that any student at SJC would dislike taking language.

Tomarchio brought too many of his insecurities about math into the classroom. He was unwilling to help with paper issues, saying "I don't know how to write a SJC math paper, so I certainly can't help you learn how to write one." He certainly knew how to grade them, despite his lack of confidence in writing them himself. In short, I don't think he should teach math. I hear he's an amazing language tutor. Perhaps he should stick to that.

He's a hard ass but imo worth it. Do Not get on his bad side or u will suffer. Brilliant in and out of class. Has some funny stories to tell, and i think he is an awesome all around tutor at SJC.

the worst sort of person: talks to you on a daily basis as if he respects you and wants to get to know you and believes that you have potential as a student and a human being, and then turns around and kicks you in the ___ .....two faced.

Mr. Tommarchio was only my math tutor for two weeks, but he was great. We had an awesome discussion spanning two classes on ad reductio proofs, and it was very enlightening.
