Took him for PHY102, lectures were amazing! Explains the history and development of the discoveries. Did many worked out examples. He does go fast, so be prepared to pay attention and keep up with the material. If you do the work you will do fine.

The worst professor I have ever had. His lectures are so unoriganized. He goes all over the place with his work and doesn't stop to make sure the material is understand. His tests are extremely difficult. The hw does not help because it never matches what is on the tests. Overall terrible. Don't take him if you need to pass.

This is the most brilliant and most respectable professor I have ever had. If you take Physics with him, he is going to mesmerize you and make you love it!! I totally changed my entire career path because of this man. No kidding. Former Psychology student

Comment:

Wolbeck is one of the best professors at OCCC. Offers a lot of opportunities for extra credit (usually between 5-10 bonus points on final average). Bridge contest in statics was awesome. Interesting lectures. Easy HW. Fair exams, final exam was very difficult, open book & open notes for both.

Comment:

Dr. Wolbeck is passionate about physics, and is a great lecturer. Solid balance between great lectures and class participation. Homework was handed in, but it was mostly an 'effort' grade. Labs reflected course content. If you understand your calculus, his physics class will give you a better understanding about the way the world works.

Concepts are brought up in a very effective and useful manner. Also he has a vast knowledge on relevant topics such as Newton and Kepler. He is very knowledgeable in his field and will provide accurate insight to show the practicality of the material. The class is cake as long as you get hw done in an effective manner and complete lab assignments.

The teacher is fair but the material is tough. If you plan on taking physics 1 and 2 over the summer rethink that idea and use another year to take the correct physics sequence. Also try to learn calc 3 and linear before hand just to really under stand the 3 space.

Prof. Wolbeck is one of the best teachers I ever had. I believe he has an amazing ability to explain very complex concepts with very easy terms. Somebody mentioned above that he explained the concept and than he did 20 problems, and that is what I loved the most about him. That is how he made sure that the concept is explained from every angle.

Wolbeck is one of the best teachers I've had. He knows engineering inside and out, and picks no bones about what you do -and dont- need to know. He teaches many lectures from memory, and is one of the most helpful profs at this school. Despite being the dept. chair and advisor to the egr. club, he is always available to help.

I am a junior engineering student who has had a lot of professors. I can say that Mr. Wolbeck has been one the best teachers I've had. He is clear, concice, and helpful. He also challenges you and makes you earn your grades, no free rides, but he is fair. He definitely knows his material and keeps students engaged.

Awesome professor!! Thought I was going to fail astronomy, but he really works with his students and wants you to do well. Our final was a game of jeopardy and he looks like Dr. House! Definitely recommend him to all students who have to take a science.

Comment:

Great teacher with great enthusiasm for physics and all physics related topics. He was very helpful when necessary. He sometimes would disappear during Lab which was somewhat annoying since he can be unclear when explaining the procedure for the lab. His test are fair as long as you study and keep up with homework. Lab notebook gets you an easy A.
