This class was one of the best I've ever taken and professor Giebar's understanding how to cultivate a trusting environment so that students felt comfortable sharing their experiences. I would highly suggest absolutely anything that professor Giebar teaches!

By far the worst teacher his grading & expectations are not clear!You miss more than 2 classes even if you get off early he will count it as 1 day. I did all the homework on time but I got a C because I left an hour earlier after my two absences. He is somewhat rude, yet I must admit he is ever knowledgeable teacher I just wouldnt take him again

I had the pleasure of taking more than one class with Jonny. Although he does have a bit of an arrogance about him, he is well respected. He is highly knowledgeable in addictions and counseling, and has a lot of information to offer his students.

Gieber is no joke. He knows his stuff & WANTS you to know it too. He is really good at what he does. He is also really good at teaching it. His book, that he rqrs is nothing short of knowing addiction and the field and helping addicts recover for over 20 years. I am honored to have been taught by him. Having an awesome cohort may have helped too!!

Jon loves to have conflict. I don't know if he thinks he is teaching by using it or if he just feels comfortable with it around him. He can be very frustrating to listen to when he rants and if you butt heads or question him, watch out! He almost never concedes a viewpoint. He knows his stuff, but I would expect him to with his background.

Knows his stuff! 3 classes w/ him--my favorite AD prof. Ask for help understanding something & you'll get it. Got probs with group mates? He won't fix it-expects you to work it out, as if you're an adult & a professional. He's unorthodox, but fair. Students who don't like him usually are slackers, have authority issues or are used to being babied.

Instructor's self published textbook is a red flag. His unbridled ego runs wild throughout the term. Worst experience in the A & D program. This class & instructor should be removed from the program & replaced with a real motivational interviewing. I feel sorry for students who have to take this class in the future.

As a person, Jonny is fun and high energy. He can be very down to earth and entertaining. He seems to like to play Devil's advocate and challenge students almost to the point of frustration. A student in our class asked a question and he just kept asking her questions and pushing. He knows his stuff. The AD program is a hot mess though! Seriously.

I like Jon. Very good teacher. He knows what he is talking about. His tests are a little tricky, but he is very fair when it comes time to grade them. Intresting lectures, definately not boring. In all, a great teacher.

LOVED that there wasn't a textbook. His tests are a little tricky, but easy enough if you know the material. Loved his whole vibe, but he could be gentler with students. He is looking good these days too! You're hot Jonny! He was also able to control a completely psychotic class :-)

Jon is unique. I can't say I care too much for the Native American Courting Flute he plays during class, but he's okay. It would have been helpful to have a textbook and a little more clarity at times, but as unorthodox as he is, I am learning a lot. There are tons of extra credit opportunities which is nice, and the group papers aren't too hard.

Although I did not continue in the AD program, I will remember Jon. Why? Because he was rad. Day 1, I walk in to see that my teacher is an older dude with a gray pony tail, a beard, a tie dye shirt, a pair of shorts, and sandals. He's very experienced and super chill. He is "homey".

he is awesome, just ask questions on every question on his exam!!! he doesnt cover alot but if you ASK about it, he tells you the answer and the class. he does that to see if people are paying attention or caring!
