Comment:

No accent, homeworks and tests are relatively easy. However, he is an AWFUL lecturer. His attendance is so low it's laughable. He devotes little time or attention to the class. Teaches out The midterms I found were always really easy compared to the homeworks, but the final was the hardest test I've ever taken. Almost nobody left before the end.

Comment:

Class with kraus was useless, he went way to fast and essentially copied everything from the book. The first three exams he gave were very similar to practice exams but he did not give a final review. For this class all you need is a book and the homework to pass. If you want to do well, hope to get a great TA who can actually help.

I don't know about other classes he teaches, but in 241 about 2/3 of the class stopped attending lecture within a few weeks, could be due to the fact that He moves at the speed of light, and is condescending when approached. You'll spend almost as much time figuring out how he calculates his grades as you will avoiding his breath.

Comment:

Dr. Kraus is a great professor but you must follow his suggestions on how to study. Math is not the easiest subject so don't make it harder for you by not reading and skipping lectures. It might not make a lot of sense reading the textbook alone but once he repeats it's EASY. Do the HW, Exams and quizzes are based mostly on HW's!

You do not need to go to class except for the 4 exams. Homework is time consuming. He is a very fair grader. Lectures can be useful but only if you have a grasp of the material before, because he does not teach the basics.

His homeworks were very similar to the tests and the examples done in class. His proofs (the point of the class) were straight forward and if you caught a mistake, he would admit it. Very fair grader, just write everything down. He doesn't look at students until you make noise so if you have a question, just start talking. I never used the book.

Best teacher i have ever had!...he went too fast, never turned away from the board, never smiled, was very awkward, had a hard final, had recitation qus every week. So overall bet professor in the world!

Take him only if you're a math genius cause that's what he expects everyone in his class to be. He doesn't answer any questions in class cause he assumes you know everything and writes really fast on the board which you won't be able to copy down (I have at least 7 pages of notes). He also mumbles lots of numbers and etc making you want fall asleep

i rarely attend his class but i like this professor because we have quiz in every recitation and we must do homework online, which force me to study math. I like this way. the attendance is not mandatory and what i need to do is just read the textbook and learn myself. He's not a good professor but he's course is awesome

Definitely a proffessor one should try and avoid. His hand moves at a mile a minute and he writes faster than he speaks! Overcomplicates everything! If you are an engineering major, apply early for small groups, cause you will need it. I stopped going to the classes and watched online videos to explain the concepts to me. Find what'll work for you.

HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! Doesn't know how to teach and just rambles on about the topic the whole time without stopping to explain anything or answer any students questions. Spends too much time on simple stuff but blasts past the difficult theories. He spends more time talking to the chalk board then he does to students. AVOID!!!

He's a very smart guy, just has some trouble getting the point across. He ends up telling you a ton of information, but not exactly how to use/get/apply it. It can be hard to get the main idea, because he doesn't explicitly say it. Textbooks are no help at all when it comes to math... so the course is challenging

Nice guy in office hours, but other then that he was one of the hardest professors I've had. I went to almost every class, but still had trouble understanding the material. He would would stand at the front, and just talk at the board while writing notes. Do the HW; it helps alot! I got a B, with no background in Calc. Good luck, you will need it.

His lectures are completely pointless. He stands directly in front of what he's writing and it feels like he always rambles on about derivations, definitions and theorems that we don't even really use. There's quizzes in recitation every week and the online homework is difficult and time consuming. Not to mention you have to pay to use the site.

Dr Kraus is a relatively nice guy, when you approach him outside of class, but is all but useless in lecture. He derives, derives, derives, does a simple example, and then expects you to be able to do 20-25 difficult questions for HW (due each class). Quizzes in rec., so little time for help.
