He is very helpful, and although I didn't get an A, he did a good job teaching this class. He answered questions very well and exams were fair. Just know that everything he teaches will be on the exams, if not on midterm it will be on final. Do some problem in the book with diagrams to get a feel for quiz/exam.

He really is a great professor, however you shouldn't take him unless you are really interested in Mech. Eng. He has so much passion and talks about recent events that most of the class couldn't follow. He does care about his students and will compromise with them. His test are extremely HARD! He will ask ?s not in the book, lecture, or discussion!

Great Professor. Extremely hard but you learn a lot when you get done with his class. He does not at all care about being popular. He is very much concerned about how you will be able to perform in the outside world when people know you have taken his class.

He missed the 1st week of class, came in expecting us to know the material. He didn't really start teaching till week 7. Demanded that we should know things that are taught in 135, despite 116A be a prereq. for that. Told us what would be covered on a midterm and then added more with telling us and denied it. Did not cover mass transfer. a 40%=D

I have taken this professor for ME-100A and ME-113. Take him for THERMODYNAMICS............DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR FLUID MECHANICS. Great for thermo, not great for Fluids. Tests can be really hard, and the TA is the one that makes the test. He will let you know what to study for.....but study every thing he goes over, not what the majority of the HW.

Vafai is pretty terrible. He does not explain things at all. His exams and homework are really hard. He also doesnt really appear to care about how the students are doing. Whenever there is a problem he just assumes that we were not studying hard enough even though he is the reason everyone is failing. Basically try to avoid Vafai.
