this professor is awful. her lectures was all over the place and she is very useless when it comes to answering any questions/concerns from students. i only passed this class due to the covid-19 pandemic. seriously do not take this class if you don't have to.

the prof may seem like an upbeat person but she doesn't know how to lecture. her slides are confusing with different fonts and different sizes. going to class is a big waste of time, reading the textbook will get you a high grade. she's very unclear in the material you should know and doesn't answer emails at ALL

Comment:
Dr. Humphreys's class was not hard material-wise however, going to lecture is a complete waste of time, the majority of information comes from the textbook. The test are tricky, unfair with ambiguous questions. Her lecture slides make no sense, she talks way too fast and does not stop. She never replies to emails, and the TA's are equally useless.

DO NOT take this class as an elective. And if you have to take it like I did, good luck. I've never taken such a disorganized class before. The TAs and the prof were all over the place. The prof almost never replied to any emails from the class, and showed that she didn't care about us. Her lectures were useless, and her tests were very difficult.

her lectures are upbeat however they're also all over the place and don't fall in line that much with the textbooks consistency. doesn't really care about the students well-being (ignores questions, concerns, emails, etc). doesn't explain concepts - idk if she doesn't know them or isn't confident lecturing

Cannot explain concepts for the life of her, as well if you have a question DON'T email her because you will NOT get any sort of answer back.

Comment:
Talks too fast in lecture, there's no point in going. Doesn't explain concepts and completely ignores students concerns especially over email. Doesn't answer questions or will circle back to something that makes no sense. Questions are unclear, she attempts to use the word opposing but clearly has no understanding of what it means.

Comment:
If you think of the lectures as a bare skeletal outline of what's important and then do the readings, you'll be fine. The textbook is a tough and boring read, so hang in there. Assignments could be structured better - she doesn't give a rubric until after assignment submission to test what you can do/understand from the instructions. Good luck.

Loved Humphreys and this class. The lectures were always fun and engaging, didn't relate much to the tests but still a good time. I'd say 95% of the testing material comes straight out of the textbook but if you read the assigned chapters before each test you will do fine.

I am finishing my third year of university and this is by far the worst course I have ever taken. The professor is an upbeat individual. But the pros end there. It is clear that she does not care about the students learning. Get ready to read and study like you have never before. This course is going to test your cognitive limits. Good luck.

Comment:
The way that the material is presented in the lectures is too vague. The textbook is damn near unbearable and the only thing that's worth studying for the tests. The assignments are graded based on a rubric that does not describe what you need to do for a perfect mark. Just your classic bad course with a case of "prof who doesn't care" folks.

The old reviews about her are true. She is very much reliant on textbook use. A lot so. She does say "look this over in the textbook" a lot to the point that there is no point to going to class. You can just pass this by studying the textbook which was painful to read.

I kind of feel bad for Humphreys because nobody shows up to class anymore. The content of this course is very interesting and she tries to make lectures fun but they end up being kind of useless and she doesn't give any useful info, just shows us what illusions are like. Nice lady though and tests are fair. Read the textbook!!!!!!!!

Useless lectures + notes. Very dependent on txtbk which itself isn't easy to read. TAs equally useless. Go to lecture regardless, helps to know what's worth reading in txtbk. Weekly readings require summaries, easy enough, reviewed with TAs in tutorial - useless, don't bother going. Lecture notes posted irregularly, usually many wks after lecture.

Interesting class, terrible teacher. I had her for 2H03 and she was awesome, this semester it's a total 180. She relies on the textbook way to much. Be prepared to hear "ohh look this over in your textbook" all semester with no reference of where to find the information and what chapters you are covering in lecture. TAs were of no help either

Great prof. Her midterms are tough, but fair if you put in the time, thus far, I've gotten an 85, 75, and a 90. Attend every class and start studying for midterms a week in advance and you should be fine.
