Comment:

She's awesome. Take death and dying, it's a low stress class to take and you really learn a lot. She always has a lot of discussions and self-expression. It's not morbid at all and there are barely any assignments besides reading. If you do service learning you get out of the midterm and 1 experiential project, it's a good deal. Loved her.

had her for women writers.. lots of readings each week but only discussed them occasionally in class. she likes participation in the discussions. overall, the class was kinda a pain but not horrible if you need it for a gen. ed.

Comment:

Death and Dying is an amazing class because of her. It isn't a subject for everyone. People complain she is confusing, but it is the student's responsibility to read the syllabus. She has made me love the subject matter, and is helping me by making sure the school isn't shafting me from getting my Gerontology minor completed.

Extremely caring and nice, although the class can be a bit morbid. She hands out TONS and TONS of readings but you don't have to read them if you don't want. Lots of discussions and in class activities with one final project and a midterm essay.

Kay is an extremely caring and nice lady. Her Death and Dying class really helps you understand and feel better about death. You have a lot of open discussion and watch videos. There is a final and midterm (essays) and one research paper. Attendance is not mandatory.

Her women's writers class is a little boring, but easy. She did kill a rainforest to make all her handouts. Just do her little assignments, participate here and there and you'll be ok. Midterm and final were take home and easy. She's a very nice woman. If you ever needed help in class or out of class she'll help you.

Kay is one of the few prof's who is such a GENUINE CARING person. She is really sensitive to us&interested in her students. She wants us to be aware&try&gain knowledge&understanding. Interesting class, a LOT of readings and yes you will have at least an entire package worth of printer paper by the end of the course. clear&helpful

I love this woman. Had her for death and dying. Very touching class and you learn a lot about yourself. She made me comfortable with dying. She's kind of a hippie, which makes the class real laid back and she even got us pizza during our final!

Her whole job...is to make you cry. It is a class on grief, and how to deal with your own, or someone elses. The classes are long and drawn out. The prof however is fun, and very willing to help. Only 1 missed class is allowed though. Lots of readings, pop quizes, boring movies, speakers, group project, LOTS of handouts, but theres a fun midterm.

Syllabus is very long and VERY disorganized. Most of the readings are on WebCT so you are going to waste a lot of your own ink and paper. With tuition so expensive, why do we need to waste money on paper and ink?? There are about 8 LONG readings for each class with the possibility of quizzes which aren't bad if you read everything. I learn nothing in this class. She passes around a bean doll and kids talk about their personal experiences. Thats it. Boring and have not learned anything new.

Very nice prof. lots of reading every week and quizzes every once in a while. Read! There's a bit of work, but most of it isn't bad. You get to visit the cemetery across 202 one day. Class is long and can sometimes be boring. but it was a pretty good class. She is always willing to help!!

Professor Fowler is a really nice woman and truly cares about her students. If you don't like to read then don't take this class though. There is like a book a week and she gives you weekly quizzes on it, but if you have the time I highly recommend it.

Syllabus is intimidating, but readings are just a guideline and mostly interesting. Very unique, but also extremely caring and intelligent. If you show effort & speak at all, then she really gets to know you & helps you academically AND personally. AMAZING and life-changing. (and will give A's)

There's a lot of reading but you dont have to do it all. she's so easy just use the books for the papers and you'll get an easy A. She also shows a movie in almost every class after the midterm. Amazing women and she does actually teach you things about writer's you didnt know.

People may say its a lot of reading but I didn't read a thing, i only used books as sources for the take home midterm and final, and I got an A. Kay is a such great lady and our class was fantastic. Definitely a great experience that changed my life.
