not my fav teacher. he literally looses track of what hes talking about during the lecture and will go off for the whole class talking about his own life or mostly about cars or life lessons hes learned. does not really teach well, does like one problem for the whole 3 hours. hw will be 11 chapters of hw (couple probs of each) but is overall hard

Worst teacher I have ever had to take notes for. He makes everything extremely unorganized. Constantly changing numbers after going 3/4 of the way through a problem. Purposely makes mistakes to see if students will point them out. Examples in class are nothing like the homework. Tests are graded out of a very low point total. Lose 1 point 87%.

Mr. Jacob's is a nice man, but not the best at teaching. Lectures are all over the place . Do not take this class if you have or haven't had physics before.

Following this guy in his lecture is like trying to follow the wind, the guy is literally everywhere. He is a train without tracks, peanut butter without jelly. Super nice guy, would make a great friend, but cannot stay focused or on track with what he was saying for more than 5 minutes.

Mr. Jacobs is a super nice man. He really enjoys teaching, but is very confusing. He did not have office hours, and he purposely made mistakes while lecturing. Very confusing, especially for the first physics class I have ever taken. Labs are super easy though

Prof Jacobs is an amazing man. I could listen to him tell stories for hours. However, his style of teaching is outdated and hard to understand. If this is your first physics class, beware. If you have taken physics in HS, general physics, or calculus than you should be OK. Exams make up most of the grade. Drops one exam. Exam Qs come from lecture.

Gives a little amount of homework for practice, does not grade based on correctness. Tests are solely based on what is written on the board; if you pay attention and take good notes you'll do fine on the exams. Exams consist between 4-6 problems, so little mistakes will cost you. I recommend taking during the summer semester.

Studying is mandatory for a good grade. Puts together 5 questions to create one test/quiz problem making them difficult if you are not confident in the material. Tried to coast through but it wasn't going to happen. Very passionate but difficult to follow at times and have fun on the tests. At least labs were easy...

Mr. Jacobs is an excellent professor. You dont need the book at all except for doing homework problems. He does a good job explaining the material. Just study your notes and homework probs and you will do good on the tests. The final was little harder than the tests you taken. Just study notes and you will do good. Hope this helps.

Confusing during lecture. Rather than state fact he will often throw bogus info out there to see if students pick up on it. It's an extremely difficult teaching style to handle. No study guides for exams. Very scatter-minded individual. Hard to take notes. All over the place. Book is useless. During the summer had NO office hours.

Mr. Jacobs is a really nice guy, very enthusiastic about physics. He tends to get deep into a subject without explaining how he got there. He also writes down incorrect numbers a lot which leads to confusion. Labs are extremely easy, just show up and you get credit. There was a super annoying dude in class and he handled it well. Textbook provided.

I would highly recommend Jacobs for a summer class at MCC, especially if you go to ASU. The labs are super easy and no lab reports. The tests are hard, but are straight from the notes with a few minor changes, so if you study you'll do fine. He's a little goofy some times, but you can tell he's really passionate about physics.

I had this teacher fall 2011 at ASU. I really recommend everyone to take his lab if you need the class. I had taken this class once, and did not work out to well, until I met Mr. Jacobs. He is the reason why now I like physics. Great physic teacher, I hope he stays at ASU, because the year before not a lot of lab teachers speak fluent english.

Larry is the best physics instructor I've had (I've had a lot). He is clear and passionate about what he teaches. His tests are hard, but he grades on how you did the problem; as log as you try you get credit. Attend class, do the problems, and re-do the ones he does in class. He will spend time and help you if you need it, but you have to ask.

I took his class during the summer session - I thought he was really great! Taking notes (good ones) by copying examples from the board is really important as well as doing the practice problems. I didn't practice as much as a friend of mine (who got an A). I love his enthusiasm for the subject.

Not the greatest teacher I have had in my college career. Mr. Jacobs does not explain what he is teaching nor does he introduce concepts. He teaches "by example" and you're suppose to understand whats being taught. When approached by students to receive help, he gets offended. Not easy to work with. Very set in his old ways. "Success" to him is C's.

If you want to learn physics I DO NOT recommend taking hime. His is very unorganized, and does not help outside of class. His son, however, is a great teacher. Larry Jacobs is confusing, and his tests are difficult.
