Comment:

All of the other sections of Operations Management are almost entirely Excel based. This professor is stuck in the 70s and does not even mention that computers exist. The material is very easy, but you will not understand unless you are in class. If he updated the course as other profs have it would be a much better class. Take a different section.

Comment:

Need to keep up with readings in this class to do well - can be a hard class. Have high B, aiming for A at end of semester. Very helpful, and gives students plenty of ways to get help. If you are willing to do the work involved with studying, etc., I recommend Dr. Ettkin. Yes, he can be scattered somewhat, but I recommend him.

Everyone has heard about spineless, heartless people and this guy is one of them.He takes pride in how many people drop his class and repeatedly tells students they dont care about academics.I never expect a grade to be handed to me, but he will barely let you EARN a B. If you want all your joy to drain away, show up on Mondays at 530, he can help.

Tests are 16+ pages long and you only have 2 so god help you if you do poorly. Quizzes can be really random. Most of all this man is just RUDE. This class will require lots of your time just to survive and is not helped by Ettkin being just a worthless professor. Truly enjoys insulting students and failing out half the class. You might get a B tops

I had Ettkin a few years ago. He was very rude and probably the least helpful professor on campus. How can you become dept head when you are so terrible, I'll never know! Avoid at all costs, not just in class but in the hallways too. He's a snarling creepy subspecies of vampire that lives in a office and only emerges to terrorize poor students.

HORRIBLE PROFESSOR!!! He speeds through the material and puts too much stuff on the exams! If you don't follow the book you will get lost. His powerpoint slides are not helpful. As many problems that there on on the exam, you would expect him to thoroughly go through the material but he doesn't.

Very poor teacher, does not explain things well at all. Have never failed a class nor have I failed more than 2 or 3 tests my entire college career (senior) and I failed this class! Retook it the next semester and almost made an A, got a high B. HORRIBLE TEACHER!

I would not recommend him. His classes are long - you NEVER get out early. It's mentally draining. Also, the tests are LONG and hard. They are on average 16 pages long and you have a time limit - you also have to come back to class for lecture AFTER the test. He's an okay guy - just not a good teacher. Also, he seems to grade tough.

He is hands down one of the absolute worst teachers at UTC, and TRUST ME, I've seen the worst the university has to offer. His exams were 16 and 17 pages long, and no MC ?s. I haven't taken a test that long since the math placement exam. All his classes are 10 people or less usually, because HE'S THAT BAD! Also TERRIBLE lecture skills! STAY AWAY!
