Dr. Shadiow is incredibly engaging, supports her students and gives assignments that are thought-provoking and relevant to my career/life. If you want to learn something and are willing to put in effort to direct your own learning and think about the content, take her!

Somehow she managed to teach Philosophy of Education absolutely content-free. She did spend a lot of time telling us about a summer she spent in England. Probably the worst professor I had in graduate school. It boggles the mind how someone doing such a poor job is allowed to continue teaching, year after year.

Comment:
Most students will find Dr. Shadiow's classes too demanding. She requires complex thinking and the ability to cross-reference different philosophers, ethical questions, and theories...and to be able to express your thinking clearly. She will catch you for sloppy thinking...and rightfully so. She is probably at her best at the graduate level.

i'm still trying to figure out what this class was about. she made it such a mystery and then graded very hard. she should be teaching english because she only seemed concerned with grammar.

Her class was pretty difficult and she was unclear in her expectations. Since she is an English PhD she seems to grade primarily on your writing abilities not on the educational concepts.
