Comment:

It is pretty easy to pass her class with an A, if you just do the work. I managed to get an A and still not do very well on her tests. My the last time I took ASL was over 10 years ago and couldn't even remember how to sign the entire alphabet. I am still amazed I got an A in her class.

Comment:

Lisa is slow to warm. She really doesn't take an interest in any of the students unless the student approaches her first. Just talk to her and she is a nice lady. Her grading is VERY easy, and VERY clear. There is a lot of work to do, but all is very easy. If you paid attention in ASL1, you will do fine.

Comment:

Let's just say a few things have changed since 2005 (the last rating). She is teaching both HS and college, so she misplaces your assignments and takes FOREVER to grade stuff. She has a bit of a short fuse and the way she looks at you will make you uneasy. No talking or cells (she will embarrass you). Pretty easy A tho and she really knows sign.

Comment:

There are no surprises in this class. She lets you know what will be on the test or quiz the week before you have it. Also, she reviews signs prior to taking the quizzes. I also liked that she used the computer (Blackboard) to post information including grades. Her signs are clear and she is a fair instructor. I would recommend taking her.

I've been taking sing classes for a while and she was Horrible. I know i learned more in High school than i did in her COLLEGE class. I will never ever take her class again. I believe she was against me b/c i knew sign and new the books already and she chouldn't teach the way she wanted to.., but i DO NOT recommend her.

Prof. Layton is an awesome teacher....I dont know how in the world anybody could say she was bad!!!! I loved her, I dont think any one in our class got less than a B...and I think the teachers that teach like your in high school make an even better teacher Id write more but im outta room

She's FANTASTIC. Her signs are very clear, and she will absolutely go back and help over and over again if it's needed. I highly recommend her!

I did not like Lisa at all. She had some high school kids in our class that she clearly favored. The thought the rest of us were all idiots. Did not care to help if we were unclear. I was not impressed.

She's a great teacher! She's very nice and fair. If she makes a mistake on grading she will change it right there and then. She's funny, she knows what she's doing, and she knows that there can be many signs for one word (unlike Childers @ South Campus). She's a great teacher for if you had ASL b4.

At first, I liked Lisa and thought she was a good teacher, however, now that I am in ASL 4, I wish I had someone different. I hardly learned what I should have in her class and when I went to ASL 2, it was a lot more work that it should have been.

I like her teaching style. Signs are clear. You know exactley what to expect, sylabus is online and very clear. Nice personality. Very knowageable of subject area. Does not tollerate slackers.

I liked lisa's teaching style... She is very good at what she does. Her ASL is not too fast nor sloppy... I found her to be very helpful when I came to ASL. She was always willing to stay after to help those that didn't feel comfortable.
