ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. Don't buy the books, you watch the movies in class. Don't go to the bathroom, be late, or accrue absences. Even though he is particular about the aforementioned things, the class is an easy A. Just speak his lingo on exams and make an effort. If you participate in class, he will like that. He's funny too!

Comment:

The way he graded the tests makes no sense. Be careful if you didn't write the things that he wanted in the test even if he always says: write down your own ideas. You can't because you would end up miserable if you don't write what he exactly wants you to write.

What an oddball. If you: are late, are absent more than twice, use the bathroom, or fail a testassignment then he's going to hate you. If you: are punctual, present, and don't disturb him then you're fine. If you: write 4 pages of nonsense that has some relation to the movies for each test, then you'll probably pass with flying colors.

This course is fairly easy, so I'd recommend it for taking as DEC G. HOWEVER be wary about reading your books: actually READ them... and not SparkNotes because it'll help you on your essay portions of your exams. Also, Fontanella is VERY helpful if you talk to him 1-on-1 (especially for regrading exams). He's a very sweet person.

I did well in the course but that is not to say it's fair. HE does not grade the stuff himself he makes someone else do it for him who obviously makes up their own rules on how to grade. I have seen kids with high grades who really did the reading in other classes get Ds on exams because of nonsense. He's nice but really their better/easier Dec Gs.

If you decide to take professor Fontanella, make sure you'll be able to attend his classes. He freaks out about attendance and announces to the class who isn't showing up. The class is very easy if you write the way he wants you to write. There are 4 or 5 in class easy essay exams. Give your opinion and discuss the topic. DO NOT SUMMARIZE.

Such an easy class. Attendance is mandatory, and he takes attendance at the start of every class, but if you show up and seem interested, you will get an A. He is very lenient with grades so if you show that you want to improve he will give you a good grade.

This was a good professor and you can tell he is very passionate about it. Pretty easy class if you do the work. He grades generously and wants to know that you tried basically. Books are cheap or you can borrow from classmate.

Mandatory attendance, actually DOES read in-class essays, insensitive--office hr meetings will be futile. Pretty easy class but do yourself the favor and don't get on his bad side (talk back, excess absents, tardiness, bathroom breaks) he will call you out in front of class. On an ending note, fill up every page of the exams.

It's an easy pass but it's an awful experience. Mandatory attendance for watching movies that he talks over anyway. Rambles on and on about people not caring enough when he himself shows up late half the time. Probably grades only on how much you write on the exams.

Easiest dec ever...even easier than EST201!! minimal work for htis class, the only time you ever had to do work is to look at sparknotes the night before the exam ...there were 3 midterms. He is very passionate about this stuff. But overall a very nice man, just dont come late or go to the bathroom.

He is VERY passionate about his work and is very good at what he does. Don't get up to go to the bathroom during class because he'll bash you for interrupting his class and think you are late. Attendance is mandatory and tedious but this is the easiest class ever. SUCH AN EASY A just write as much as you can on the tests and youll be fine.

this class was SO EASY! I almost didn't take it cuz someone made a stupid comment about him not liking black people. Oh please, I got an A. Attendance is mandatory, u can miss 3. He has movies for all the plays. You really DONT NEED THE BOOKS but i read them anyway. Man.. so easy AND class is supposed to be 350-510. we get out at 430 each time!!!

He's tedious when it comes to attendance! His tests are extremely easy - I didn't even read any of the plays. He went over everything in depth and prepared you really well for the tests! It's an extremely easy class! Take it!

My friend told me to take it and when i saw the rating i was like "nah...he gunna be hard" let me tell you....EASY class, not hard at all. He does take attendance but its not a pain to go...bring other work to pass the time if its really boring to you (it shouldnt be) great guy, understanding and very passionate about his work. Great professor. As long as you do the work that is required and participate, you will have no problems. However, if you treat him with disrespect and do not study, you will hate this class. You get what you give in this one. Overall, he is knowledgeable and tries to get everyone involved

I have NO complaints about Prof. Fontanella. Just make sure you go to class. Participation isn't really necessary. Read the few short plays he assigns (so easy!) and be prepared to watch movies and leave class early! He gave me my first A at Stony Brook & I'm a slacker so take it from there!

AMAZING PROFESSOR and real easy!! you dont even need the books..he literally explains teh whole book and what you need to know plus you watch the movie so there is no way you cna fail..unless you dont go to class b/c attendence is a MUST. This is an easy A class!
