Comment:

The class was very easy, that is if you're interested in learning about music. Now as far as Dr. Henderson, he is very impatient and in the business of condescending his students. The content he teaches is great, but his attitude is horrible. He forgets a lot. If I had a chance to take this class for more credit, I would, but not with him.

Comment:

Dr. Henderson is pretty bad at teaching and impatient. Exams are based off lecture and textbook. He does not give hints as to what is on the exam, but sometimes gives away answers to some exam questions. I honestly think he made music appreciation harder than it should. He's funny though.

If you have no background in music you will not do well in this class. He says he will tell you exactly what's on the test but doesn't really. He was late almost everyday. He would be very unclear with assignments. This class is all memorization. Save yourself stress and time and take a different class.

Know's his music but a terrible teacher, no patience, unorganized, always late. If you're really looking to get something out of African American music, DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. If you want the credit, just study the chapters he tells you to read which is a lot but that's about it. Exam are at least 75 questions long I regret taking this professor.

What an awesome teachers. Maybe everyone else should have worked harder. Dr. Henderson is such a great teacher. He makes sure that you understand the material and is so funny and inspirational. I would take any class this man teaches.

Interesting professor and class. His lectures do not necessarily cover the text but he expects you to keep up on the reading yourself. The tests are from both lectures and book. If you show up and participate, he remembers.

If you don't have music knowledge, don't take this class, not easy at all, very bad experience, and the professor don't care about the music reports, he gives credit only to the one's he likes

Unfortunately Henderson doesn't base his tests on his lectures, and his tests are pretty brutal. Just read the chapters and listen to the songs and memorize every possible thing about the song including who made it.

This is coming from a UC Student who has taken some of the hardest Calculus classes in the country. He is harder than UC Calculus! His questions are a trivial pursuit test that range at 75 questions and more. Most of those questions require you hear a classical piece and name the composer of each song. It gets harder. Avoid like the plague!

Horrible professor do not take will not help or cooperate does not answer question in fact he is careless for questions he is absolutely not funny. He is very up tight there is no correcting him because he's always "right" even though he makes stuff up thinks too highly of himself claims to be the worlds greatest music professor but the only thing he is good at is getting you to hate this subject. Took him for music 111 worst mistake ever. I do not know how he is allowed to continue teaching

Tests based on the book, much of the material of which was very, very obscure. Lectures are fun because he is a cool professor. If you are non-music major, avoid this class and instead take 101 or some other GE. This class, the way it is taught and graded, is way harder than it should be, especially for an intro class.

This class was incredibly hard for music appreciation. The first quiz was 75 questions and was entirely from the book and not from his lecture. Granted this was a fast track class, but he did not make it any fun.
