I took the course because of the good reviews, but the class was not actually easier than you think. The topic essay and research paper are not clear and, the grading is very strict. It is not easy A.

ONE OF THE BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR at De Anza. She gives really good feedback for every single homework and essays. She is so kind and nice, everyone loves her. Her class is really easy, doesn't give a lot of homework. And if you follow her essay requirement, you got an A, i mean A+!!! Take her!

She is a great professor! I learned a lot of things from her, I really want to take her class again. I think she usually doesn't give bad grade, but if you have a many grammatical mistakes, she will deduct points. She is a easy A prof, and she is nice.

Comment:

Diehl is very caring and passionate about everything she teaches. There are 3 essays and a final. I like about her is that she lets you use a lot of creativity and personal experience, which a lot of teachers don't do in an EWRT class. Her lectures are very long and seem unnecessary as if she's forcing them just to meet the very long class time.

Awesome teacher, will definitely make you a better writer at the end of the class. I actually am skipping one quarter so that I could take my next class with her after her vacation. Show up in the class, do your HW and get an easy A.

She'll grade your works leniently. Pressure yourself all the time for your future English 1a/1b/2 classes even if you think you can easily pass her class. She was the most lenient English teacher at De Anza.

Mary told me i'd do great in future english courses if i showed up but i still received a passing grade LOL. Although, im a fluent english speaker I saw how hard she works to have the class inclusive and she makes sure nobody is left behind. Honestly, the best teacher/mentor Ive had at Deanza! High praises!!!

Comment:

Mary is a great teacher and cares for her students. She is very understanding and helps students get the best grade possible, if someone is missing a class or two she allows you to make up loss work for credit. She is very clear in her lecture and gives activities to help us improve. There is never no "busy work" highly recommended teacher.

Awesome professor, class is incredibly easy. She helps you and answers all of your questions without hesitation. She's very nice and funny. Really cares about her students' success and progress in the class. Would take her again if I could! Lectures could get a tad boring but you always learn something and I think it's worth taking her class.

there is classwork worth 15points every class. miss one you miss 15points. you can make up but you gotta have valid excuse. easy grading criteria. 2 outclass and 2 inclass essays. she speaks too long, makes me sleepy. but you can play on your phone LOL have fun. its easy as long as you follow guidelines. she also allows rewrites.
