Comment:

Easily double the work as other 4th year classes, doesn't realize students take classes other than hers. Exams extremely long and cumulative so no one actually finishes the entire exam due to time. Assignments are very long as well and require large amounts of time. Not present for an exam yet,grad student covers. Unwilling to help if you struggle

Worse experience, she craves attention and gets mad when people ain't giving a F about her stuff. Cons: 100% attendance, 100% participation, boring lectures, hard exam, silly marking. Won't recommend anyone

A few point: 1 - Bad lecturer; very hard to follow sometimes and she does not correct the mistakes in notes she posts. 2 - Not very approchable; it was hard to find times to see her and when she was in her office with the door open she was still too busy. 3 - It's a trap! When it's exam time don't trust what she says can be very misleading.

The course is fairly simple and she teaches it well enough. Then the final exam is so long that no one finishes it, and when you don't get a question exactly right (or run out of of time midway through) you'll never get more than 1.5/6 for part marks.

While she may not be the best lecturer to learn from, she is genuinely caring about teaching students and showing them what CS has to offer. For doing well in the course, it really comes down to if you want to put more than the minimum work to excel. Some say her midterm/final is long, but there are no surprises. You know exactly what to expect.

If you have the choice between taking a class with this prof or getting gored by a moose, take the moose. She seems like a perfectly nice lady, but is by far the worst prof i've had. Terrible explanations, dreadfully boring lectures and error-ridden notes that'll surely infuriate you. Avoid her courses at absolutely any cost!

Good luck trying to understand her online slides. Even more so her hand written notes. Nice handwriting by scribbles everywhere and you won't understand them if you weren't in class. She is a very nice lady, however teaching was not her calling. Disorganized and always confuses students. Be aware of countless errors in notes.

She is the worst professor I have had so far. She is hard to understand, talks too fast, goes through notes too fast, does not explain anything well, and is just generally annoying to listen to. If you do not go to class, you WILL NOT understand the notes she posts. All the assignments, the midterm, and the final have spelling/grammar errors.

I think the pace she taught at was a tad too slow. She doesn't have bad lectures overall, some were a bit dry, but she teaches the material well, and clearly. Her notes do have some errors, but it's still valuable. Also her English wasn't bad at all, no big troubles with clarity.

I thought this professor was absolutely wonderful. Learnt a lot of valuable skills and computational background I will definitely use in the future.Work very hard, read the required readings and understand the concepts very deeply.She will ask you on them and ask for your opinions and critiques. She was very nice, and cared for her students.

Dr. Thulasiraman seemed to care about her students and you could tell she was really passionate about the subject, but I don't really think she taught the course particularly well. The great thing is that she is an easy marker and she tests you on your basic understanding. The final was easy,questions were taken exactly from the notes and examples.

Really good prof. Got an A. You can tell she wants her students to succeed. When I was in her class, she gave a 'help sheet' to clarify the assignments given, and the department shut her down because it 'wasn't fair' to the other students in other sections who didn't have that same opportunity. Very approachable and friendly.

Comment:

Aside from a slightly funny voice, she is a great prof. She tries to answers your questions, provides excellent and relevant examples for assignments and does not get caught up in lecture mode. While she is not an entertainer, she makes a serious effort to help her students. Would gladly take another course with her.
