Comment:

AWFUL teacher. Cancelled class a lot, very condescending to students, and seemed like she didn't want to be there at all. Had a disagreement at the beginning of the semester and was very disrespectful and rude when I tried to talk to her about it. She believes she is right, no matter what. Do NOT take a class from her.

Comment:

Must have had some personal issues going on bc she canceled class often (for a MWF class she canceled all F from the start) and was moody. I got a B+ by just going to the lectures. Lab have nothing to do with lecture. Forces TAs to grade very harshly, but you'd have to be a fool to not know how to write a decent APA paper by the end of the semester

I liked her at the beginning of the semester because she is a great lecturer, but then she became moody and canceled class frequently, leaving us to teach ourselves and wouldn't push back the tests. She changed her mind frequently and sometimes it was unclear what she wanted. Answering her short answer questions was difficult but mtc were fine.

This class was very hard to get motivated for. Her lectures are not consistent with tests or the lab. Labs are very difficult to do well on because she expects you to do perfect even though it is all new material. Her grading is inconsistent with the study guide and she missed a ton of classes. Very irritating, avoid this class

Gibbs was so dreadful. She needs to retire, and fast. Poor grading scheme, canceled 5 classes the day of, talked like we were all idiots. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Also, she wears low-cut shirts, and at her age (OLD) that is very inappropriate and unprofessional.

Although she is very interesting and has a love for her field, she could change her teaching style. I love how we had a MWF class, and she canceled all Friday classes, but she made us do blackboard assignments instead. She is extremely picky. It is hard to know what she wants in short answer questions, but her multiple choice questions were nice.

Hardly unique in her teaching style, no social skills. One day she says we have multiple attempts on blackboard assignments, the next day it changes. She tells you not to plagerize, yet the answers have to, SOMEHOW, match identically for points. Impossible gradeing. Intolerant. Pedantic. rude. Cant figure out technology. Like her=Happy to pass

I think the reason people have problems with Research Methods is because they forget that Psych is a SCIENCE. Gibbs is clear and concise. She drops your lowest test score. Study guides are helpful. Lab is the hard part. But the essays are formulaic. Everything you need to get an A is given to you. You just have to use it right.

i dont understand y there are so many bad comments. Im taking her class in the summer and she is an amazing teacher.You should go to class because the exam questions are based on what she says in class.Take her class,pay attention,study and you will guarantee a good grade.

LOVED this class! Dr.Gibbs is by far the best lecturer I've ever had. She explained the material in a very interesting way and provided great examples. The TA wasn't very good but Gibbs made up for it. Hardly used the textbook,tests were based completely off of lectures so if you want to do well you have to attend class and take good notes.

I thought she was a horrible teacher. She doesn't come to any of the test days, doesn't correct any of our papers, and is completely unrealistic. I was 2 points away from an A and she gave me a simple B. When I confronted her she and explained how devistated I was because it lowered my GPA, she said I need to calm down and just accept it. EWWWW....

Love Psychology, hated this class (as do most people). I felt the grading in the lab section was very unfair/unrealistic. Assignments are not worth much and if you get 1 or 2 little things wrong, it really hurts you because they grade so hard. Lectures are pretty straight forward (yet very boring at times). The tests are pretty difficult also.

Shes very clear in her lectures and its more helpful than the textbook. Just don't ever disagree with her and it should be fine. However, the class and the tests are easy, the lab is what needs to be focused on. Sloppy communication between Gibbs and the TA's. But if you have a good TA (Kristy McDonald!!!) it certainly makes lab much easier.

Gibbs is a strict teacher though she knows her stuff. The lecture was great and tests weren't bad but the lab was horrible! Completly unorganized and no communication between Gibbs and the TA's which left the students stuck in the middle, lost. Gibbs is a nice enough person and she's fair but the lab was just too much unnecessary stress for me.

Book Helps alot.very well written. You should really attend class. you HAVE to do the HW. The HW is all or nothing, but if you go to class you will be fine, if your stuck just read the book. She goes step by step through the problems, which helps ALOT. Study for the exams. The Exams are multiple choice and short answer(so know the concepts). easy A
