Dr. Murray makes PHL interesting and fun. Class is laid-back and he doesn't give too much homework. Reading isn't always necessary as long as you pay attention and take good notes. Almost all of what is on the exams is in his lecture, so don't skip class! Make sure to prepare for the big logic quiz; it took my grade from an A to a B+. Great class!

Intriguing and good at explaining things. Reading is not necessary. Study the review sheet and the exams are directly off of the review sheet. Go to review sessions. Made me consider a philosophy minor.

Dr. Murray is a great professor. As an intro course, he did a great job drawing me in and interesting me in Phl. That being said this class isn't an easy A and if you want to do well you must work for it. Pretty cool that his wife teaches in the same department as well

Definitely my favorite professor at Creighton. Very enthusiastic about the subject and makes clear what he wants on papers and exams. His teaching has made me consider a minor in the subject. The only thing that was difficult or ever unclear was his teaching of logic. Get help and study for the logic quiz - it took my grade down to a B+.

Very difficult class. If you do not have his same views on certain subjects, then he shuts you down. Read the books as they help, but he goes over the reading the day it's due. The review sessions before the tests are very helpful.

Dr. Murray is Brilliant. Unfortunately that does not keep students engaged. The class gets more and more boring as the semester goes on as the course material repeats itself.

He is so far my favorite teacher at Creighton. I had no interest in philosophy at first but now it's my best grade. He is very clear in lecture and make sure to attend the review sessions because he answers all the questions and makes passing the tests easy! TAKE HIM (:

attendance not mandatory. GO TO REVIEW SESSIONS and literally ask him the questions from the study guide. The test will be exactly 3 or 4 of the questions from the study guide. Reading textbooks not really necessary, just go online to understand main ideas. the section about logic is usually the most difficult and logic test is most challenging

Attendance isnt mandatory. Go at first so he gets to know you but after the first month or two you can just randomly show up now and then. Class can be entertaining but you dont get much useful out of it. Reading obviously helps but isnt necessary. just be sure to go to the review sessions before the tests they are really really helpful

Class was easy, if you want to go bring a laptop or you can just stop showing up after the first 4 weeks since he does not take attendance. Go to the review sessions and you won't get lower than a B on any tests. boring lectures but still an easy class.

A silly man who gets excited about philosophy. I never read anything, but if you take notes and go to the review sessions you will be fine for the tests. His views on women's rights are as far left as you can get, which was frustrating.

Very helpful! Bright man, I failed a exam, and he let me re-take it so I could get at least a 65% on it. Low-Key funny at times, his lectures do ramble on, which could make you fall asleep. But overall, a very good professor at Creighton.

Such a nice guy!!! The test is nothing but essays, but they're super easy as long as you pay attention in class. If you go to the study sessions that he has before every test he'll tell you exactly what to write on the test word for word!!! By far one of the best teachers I've had. I would take a class with him again!

Extremely helpful professor, he really knows his stuff! Somewhat disorganazied lectures, but he does cover everything needed for exams. It's rather amazing really looking back on the course. He has review sessions and sheets that really help in terms of focusing on key areas/points/issues for exam material. Really good/dynamic professor, must take!

Very nice man, and he does his best to include the class in his lectures. For an honors course covering "modernity" (scientific thinking, economics, enlightenment, etc.), I found him to be a very competent teacher. Some of the material was a bit dense, but nothing that his review sessions and SparkNotes couldn't clear up. 10-12 pp paper, though.

While I am not interested in phlat all, Dr. Murray made it interesting. His classes can get very boring sometimes, but Murray is very knowledgeable about the material and knows what he is talking about- so pay attention! The reading is helpful, but not nessecary as long as you pay attention in class. Go to the exam review sessions, they help too.
