Comment:
Dr. Owens is a very respected and difficult professor. I found his grading to be quite unfair; I would spend hours on the homework and studying for tests and still failed most of the assignments. I am used to making straight A's and I barely made a C in this class. It was frustrating to invest effort into this class and not receive rewards.

The absolute hardest chem class I have ever taken. Part of it was the teacher. Because he was so passionate and expected the class to be just as passionate, it was hard to follow the fast pace of the course depending on who you took 105 with. He is a great teacher overall, very stern but polite at times. Really wants you to learn, not just remember

If you are really wanting a challenging class, then take this. If you aren't then do not. It's a tough class and I honestly was not interested in the information. I was only there because I had to be.

Dr. O was my first encounter with the Chem department here at WU, and while he seems really scary at first, he's always willing to help you learn. He told us on the first day of class that we would be overly prepared for Chem105, and he wasn't kidding. I would definitely recommend Dr. O to incoming Freshman Chemistry Majors!

I recommend a tutor for this class because if you don't work hard for your grade, you aren't gonna do good. This class is no joke! However, If you put in a good amount of time in effort, you should pass the class with no problem.

This was a tough one. Excel is pretty tough to learn if you aren't computer savvy, but he didn't make it any easier. He works really fast and can be really unclear in what he wants from you. I had to work for that B, I tell you. A must for Chem majors, so buckle down and get through it.

This class is made for chem majors. If you are not a chem major, this class much more than you need. The class is super interesting, but you need to study at least once a week. If you didn't understand what he just thought you, go to his office. He wants to help you as much as he can. The second half of the course is the hardest so get ready.

Dr. Owens class is NO joke. He goes over a lot of information in one class, so even though it's not mandatory go to class. We had pop quizes every week without fail. He will say some things won't be on the test but more than likely it will be. Owens is not an easy A, but if you can make it though his class your set as a chem major.

If you take this class, be prepared to work hard. I've made A's in all my previous chem classes and I was struggling with this class for a while, but he really likes to see students work hard. He can be intimidating but if you go and talk to him a few times he gets a little less scary, and he WILL help. He's hard, but you learn a lot in this class.

Dr. Owens is an excellent teacher and very enthusiastic about the material. Problem sets are hard and take a long time, but if you do and understand them, they make the quizzes and the tests a breeze. One of the best professors and classes I've taken!

Dr. Owen's is a good teacher, especially with the hard subject we're learning. If you pay attention in class, take good notes, go ask him questions and put in the effort, not bad. But if you don't like putting in effort, don't even bother signing up for his class. Definitely recommend to those who are interested in Chemistry!

Beware!! Owens is very difficult for those who are not willing to work hard for their grades. He does everything he can to make sure that you understand, and he gives tons of extra credit. He also gives a lot of homework every night, but the practice is necessary to understand the material.

Dr. Owens is VERY hard!I suggest that you dont take his class unless you have had at least two years of Chem experience, & maybe a year of physics in high school. I enjoyed him, he is funny, & he's a pretty good prof, but he's hard. If you take his class, you WILL learn & you will work hard for your grade. I Recommend him if you want a challenge.

One of the best lecturers I have ever experienced. He understands what makes a concept confusing, then explains it in a way that actually makes you "get it". Interacts with class, doesn't just talk at you. He's tough though, you need to earn your grade. Study every night like you'll have a quiz the next day (you probably will) and you will do fine.

I cannot tell you how much I like this man. His classes are hard, very hard - you work hard for your grade. He puts up a tough front and doesn't take excuses (came from West Point)- but if you go to his office hours, he'll help you. He has passion for what he does; he's one of the most encouraging professors I've ever had and a stellar advisor.

Dr. Owens is the real deal. He is the essence of what every elder warns new students college professors are like. If you take this class, don't skip, don't doze and even though he may be one of the most intimidating teachers ever, hes doing it on purpose to weed u out. His quizes are his insecticide. You CAN make an A if you work really hard!

Dr. Owens is a great prof and he really cares about the subject and his students. He is, though, fairly difficult. If you are not a chem major, or particularly interested in chem I do not recommend him. But if you are, be prepared to work hard and learn a lot. Plus -- if you do well, hes a great prof for recommendation to grad schools.
