Great prof. Exams and quizzes are based on lectures and labs. Readings and handouts are really helpful. Overall, an experienced prof who knows her "stuff" , teaches at a pace for understanding, and cares about student progress.

LOVE professor Hoyer! Her class was the first class I ever took on campus. Her lectures are very informative and lab was fun to do! Her classes do fill up quick so don't wait till the last second to add to her class!

Comment:

Prof Hoyer truly is a GEM. If you need to take Bio 003 she only teaches one class so you have to hurry before it fills up. True, her class is lecture heavy but if you take good notes that's all you'll really need (no book necessary). Labs are a little boring but if you just right something in the booklet, and don't miss a page she gives you 10/10.

Very nice Prof. Science is difficult so you will study entire semester. Lectures are slides and some information you won't find in textbook-attendance and note taking is important. Don't seat in back- she has quiet voice and hard reading handwriting . 4 tests and non cum. final with reviews + Extra credits, drops lowest. Labs- quizzes & works.

Professor Hoyer was supposed to be our professor, but took a leave of absence for most of the semester. Her lectures were pretty boring, it was hard for me to pay attention for the full class. She is relatively easy though, and will give extra credit. Be prepared to watch a lot of videos from the 1980's.

Nice and friendly. She's so warm and welcoming to the class. Gives a lot of extra credit during tests. Field trips are fun and you get a lot of points for just being there. Helps you if you need help. Overall a great professor!

My favorite professor! Never had a professor who was so good at teaching such a hard class until I took Professor Hoyer’s Bio 3. She is a wonderful professor who really cares about her students. She’s always prepared and would love to help you understand the subject even more.

I took her for Biology 3 and thought she was a really good professor. She gives you a lot of extra credit opportunities which makes it nearly impossible to get a bad grade in the class. Take her class, you won't regret it!

Love love love this class! The lectures are great, the field trips are awesome and the professor is so good no words can describe her. We got A LOT of extra credit for the tests too. Professor Hoyer just manages to turn a hard class into a fun, interactive one.

The most interesting biology class I have ever taken. We had a lot of field trips and all of them were fun! I really love this class. The professor is nice and friendly. She’s one of the best professors in LAVC.

BEST PROFESSOR. Absolutely love her class. Took her Bio 3 and Bio 22 classes and both got A's. She's very helpful, has crytal clear notes and lectures, and is very approachable. Her lectures are very interesting and informative. The only people who fail her class are the ones who NEVER show up for lectures. Probably the BEST biology professor ever.

Not a fan of this teacher at all. I would not recommend her to anyone. Unless youre naturally good at Bio and are somewhat familiar with it, u wont pass. Her teaching method sucks, spits out random information, you dont even know wats gona be on the test. doesnt have proper notes, writes random info on projectors.

dont need the book, lab book was waste of money just photo copy from a classmate. so calls people out if you dont pay attention and she talks a lot. babies you throughout the class step by step. but she is a professor with passion towards what shes teaching and knows her stuff. would recommend if you have patience. received an A.

BEST BIO PROFESSOR EVER. She's really a great professor. She explains the topics clearly and she always presents videos to make us understand the topic more. Lab is always fun and we always do interesting experiments. For the test, she will usually give you 20 extra points if you get an easy question right. Take her class! :)
