I graduated from HSU 9 years ago. Dr. Bailey was the hardest English prof I ever had. That said, her class prepared me more for my job as a teacher than ANY other teacher at Henderson. Yes, she is EXTREMELY tough and you better read everything and learn those quotes. But get to know her! She's a fascinating person with an interesting life.

Comment:

Definitely do not take her unless you must. She only gives out one A per semester, very critical, a little kooky. It's an interesting class I guess, and she definitely goes really deep into the world of literature, but she doesn't do a good job explaining things. Everything is group talk.

I had English Honors with Dr. Bailey. I consider her one of the most knowledgeable Prof's at HSU. She really know her stuff and is interesting to listen to. She is a tough grader and you must work hard in the class, but it will make you a better writer. If you have problems, go see her in her office, she is very helpful!

I loved Dr. Bailey's class. I had always been very proud of my writing and had been praised throughout life for it, until her class. On the first paper, I recieved a D. She was willing to meet with me to discuss the grade and why I earned it. I was able do well after that. I made a C in the class, because I forgot the largest paper's due date. Love

Dr. Bailey is a wonderful instructor. You will definitely learn in any course that she teaches. I love how she forces students to think for themselves and to actually do some work! I embraced the challenge of earning an A in her course. Her feedback is priceless! She definitely focuses on helping her students better their writing abilities.
