Comment:
Lehman is really passionate about film and his lectures show that. This class was really easy. The people who say the class was hard are those that didn't participate in the discussions or couldn't grasp the concepts to write a very short 2 page essay. You can talk maybe 5 times and get full participation and just reiterate his thoughts on essays

Grades from a midterm & a final (which TA's grade, very little to 0 feedback), attendance, participation from blackboard discussions and talking in class. Does offer extra credit, but few points. Lots of genital talk and paused on projector. Weird. Last class, for talking points you sign , they have you line up and threaten to pull you out of line.

Boring teacher with many in class discussions that go off topic. Learnt very little from this class but it was very easy. Only 2 essays, graded by the TAs.

Pros: - Got to watch a lot of films - Some interesting topics during lectures Cons: - Don't even have to watch the movies to pass - Don't write papers on the required movies, so you can't share your thoughts - May be hard to share opinion during discussion in front of 100 people - Only graded on 3 things: a midterm, a final, and participation

Worst class I have taken. The time in class is very easy but boring. The lectures are pointless and did not teach me one thing. Your final grade is based off of 2 essays that are graded by the teacher assistants, and you are lucky to get above a C. Lehman shuts down students a lot and was kinda rude. Hated this class would never recommend.

Although Professor Lehman is very passionate about film, I would not take this class with him. He has his TA's grade the 2 papers you have all semester and they grade harsh. Participation matters both in class and on the discussion board online. Go to the extra credit screenings because he says he grades on attendance or participation, he doesn't

Professor Lehman is passionate about film, but if you have trouble sitting through long lectures, his class will be a bit rough. He is knowledgeable about the subject matter. Make sure you participate in the class discussions or online discussions or you won't get a good grade.

Given how much he talks about "male parts" in class, I'm surprised he's not in the biology department... maybe he'd actually be good at that, because he's not good at teaching film. He's very rude; interrupts students and shuts them down. He rambles; his lectures are like white noise. Grades entirely by two hard essays. Just don't take his class.

Lehman requires one book for the class - which he wrote - that he assigns reading out of, but is not at all needed. He just repeats everything from the book during his lectures, which are basically just him rambling for an hour without a clear plan. He spoils the endings of great movies, and rants about how much he hates certain good films.

Worst class I have ever taken. Each lecture is boring and the same as the readings word for word. The topics are interesting but the lectures and how they're presented are terrible. Avoid this professor and take the online class instead. Your grade in this class is based off of two 1 page essays and participation either online or in class.

Prof. Lehman is one of the worst professors I've had at ASU. I would avoid taking him again at all costs. Lectures were terribly boring and there are only two major papers that make up your grade then there are discussion boards you must be active in. Whatever you do, do not take his class.

Avoid this teacher at all costs!!!!! The lectures are so boring with a monotone voice, I feel terrible because I can barely stay awake. Even other professors will warn you to take a coffee break before starting. Other than that, either participate online or in class, you'll pass.

Most boring professor I have ever had. He grades hard on the few papers you submit so watch out for that. The class isn't difficult, just boring. The movies you watch don't even matter because you aren't allowed to write about them. Just go to class and get the participation points.

I enjoyed this class a lot and the content is really interesting. Lehman uses great examples from all sorts of films. You MUST participate in class or on discussion boards to get credit and attendance is for points/mandatory. Only 2 papers throughout the whole course, so do them well. Also, you definitely need the book for further explanation.

Dr. Lehman is a very boring professor in what should be an exciting class. I liked the content but the way it was presented and discussed was so underwhelming. Glad I'm done with this class.

I do agree that the lectures are long and can be boring, but the class isn't bad. I missed a decent amount of class and still got my attendance and participation points. you need to talk in a class a few times and you only have two papers. he is a hard grader but i ended up with a high B. He is actually pretty nice.

The lectures are boring. The papers need to be specific and the way he likes it. I did not like this class at all. I watched the movies, went to all the classes and worked hard on the papers... still got a bad grade.

His lectures are very boring as hell. He goes off topic all the time makes no scene. Every time we had a guest speaker they were more exciting then Peter Lehman lectures. Plus he makes student cry in front of him. If I was looking for a professor for Introduction to film you really shouldn't have him.

Felt like there was no point of taking FMS 100 in the first place. Only a midterm and final but the essays must be done in a completely different format. His lectures are dull, to the point where I fell asleep almost every time.

Lehman doesn't give students who are mostly freshman a fair chance to learn how to write the types of essays that he expects. The style of essay is completely different than any other type of essay that a person will ever receive in a University class.
