Fantastic class. He really dives into the material head-on and makes sure that he covers everything thoroughly. He doesn't always stick to the syllabus, but who cares? I'd rather learn more about less than less about more.

Comment:

I took Prof. Mascuch's film course last summer and I thought it was pretty easy. I'm so into analyzing and criticizing movies and, knowing how Prof. Mascuch works since I took him for ENG 294, I also knew that the tests would probably be easy as well because they are usually take-home. He made the course seem like a lot of fun!

Take him if you can, Easy A! All you do is watch classic movies such as Bonnie and Clyde, The graduation and The Godfather. He asks for a 1 page paper on your thoughts and opinions of the movie once you finish. Take home final and Midterm and he's really funny and nice!

Super easy class all we did during class is watch movies, then for homework just had to write 1-2 pages about the plot. One big essay at the end that was only 3 pages, and a take-home midterm and final. Super easy and chill class if you need an easy A, plus the films he plays are good movies such as psycho, bonnie and clyde and the godfather

No grades the entire semester, lectures until the last minute, gives so much work but doesnt give any of it back. The films are boring from the 20's and 30's. Nobody can pay attention. Class attendance was poor. I was stunned he didnt return any assignments back all semester and yet kept assigning us more work. How could this man keep his job

BORING. STAY AWAY. I regret taking him so much. We had a paper a week, a midterm, and now the final is this week. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ONE GRADE FROM THIS MAN. NOT ONE. I HAVE NO CLUE HOW I AM DOING IN HIS COURSE. THIS IS A PAPER A WEEK SINCE SEPTEMBER. IT IS DECEMBER. UNPROFESSIONAL and extremely frustrating. I feel so unmotivated to attend class!!!!

Great professor really likes what he does, but I didn't receive one grade back from him the entire semester which is pretty unprofessional . Final grades at the end of the semester were due last week and I still haven't received mine from him. So if you like to know your grades don't take him lol

Great professor. Encouraging and helpful but don't expect to get your work back till after the semester ends. Takes a really long time to grade, I'm talking like months. Piles on a lot at the end of the semester and tries to jam it all in because he doesn't follow the syllabus. Assigned a new book and essay with one week of class left.

He is an awesome prof.! He might talk for a while but it is for good reasons. if your class ends at 9pm, your class ends at 9pm. He is super sweet and will help if you ask. If you forget to bring an assignment in he'll let you email it to him if you tell him you forgot. He is super smart and loves his job! Not strict with attendance, email him tho.

This class is extremely easy. You watch a movie every class and then have a 20 minute discussion about it. Only assignments are to write a review on the movie that was shown in class. no tests except a midterm and final which are both take home. Never used both text books, so dont buy them!

Overall an easy class. You have to write a couple of short papers, the study guide he hands out is representative of the testing material. If you are a History major I'd recommend taking this course as an elective, it is cool to read the works of the people who molded America into what it became. He can be pretty funny/

This guy rocks he is just the sweetest nicest guy out there I would take his class 100 more times he is so smart and helpful and explains everything which is great and sure the tests may taketime, he gets them out and they are all marked up it is great want your grade just ask him for it he will give it to you and even show you what u did wrong.

I absolutely adore Mascuch! He is the most relaxed, calm, and laid-back Professor in all of the English Department at St. Joe's. He gives you the questions to the tests beforehand, has one-on-one consultations regarding papers, and is not too uptight when it comes to attendance or due dates. Caution: He might give your grades later than expected.

He talks a lot and it can get boring at times but he means well and will help you out if you need assistance. Appropriate amount of work, not a harsh grader and he loves when you participate. He doesn't expect too much, just participate and read. I'd take him again. Sweetest guy ever!

Nice guy, but he gave us our final as a take-home on a friday, due monday. FOUR 4-5 Paragraph essays, 3 one paragraph essays, and another 3-4 page essay due that same week wednesday. maybe its just me, but having roughly 6 essays due for ONE class in the course of five days is just wrong. otherwise nice guy, rambles WAY too much.

I've taken many classes with him - Mascuch is a great teacher. He can be lazy with getting papers back and it may take him a while to get through something we're reading, but he's awesome. He's funny, nice, helpful and smart. He loves making sure his students understand the work and he makes his classes easy.
