Comment:
Dr. Schuller was the rudest professor I met at Miami, and the only people who I have spoken with that don't share this sentiment would be individuals with questionable pompousness and overinflated egos. He was erractically unclear and went on hectic tangents. In addition, he seemed to find intimidation an effective motivator. Worst course at Miami

I was actually interested in this class coming in (even tho I'm an environmental science major). It's a miami plan and CAS double dip so I took it... it's not a weed out course, though he treats it as such. His exams are okay if you spark-note everything before, but his tests can be incomprehensible - like him.

I went into this class somewhat interested in the material. However, all he does is make you read the book, do worksheets, and tell you you're wrong. He really doesn't make sense at ALL during class, but his tests are kind of easy if you spark-note everything before the test. But, beware, his tests can be just like him - incomprehensible

Incoherent, arrogant, and downright vulgar. I attend most of the lectures but have yet to learn anything of any value. Rambles on and on and grows progressively less intelligible. I stopped participating after week 3 or so when I grew tired of being mocked in front of the class. I was planning on minoring in phl until I took this class....avoid it

This guy you can tell is extremely smart and thats cool- but he comes off kind of crazy. like his brain got lost in the theory of existence somewhere along the way. reasonably fair grader- if you are a good student and looking for a challenge in philosophy then take this class. i failed it bc i missed more that 4 classes... it was so early tho!!

Best teacher I ever had. Never (directly) answered a single question I ever asked him and thank goodness he didn't... I am continually figuring out the answers myself with his guidance which is still working on me 10+ years later. He teaches college, not 10th grade. If you didn't learn anything, it's not because he wasn't teaching...

loved him. lectures were extremely interesting and he had a contemporary example for almost everything we talked about. he expects a lot, and gets really into the material, but as a non-philosophy major, i felt like i got a lot out of the class

.....i have no words for this guy. he appears to be fully mentally insane during lecture, laughing loudly at his own jokes that would only appeal/make any possible to history&philosophy double majors. Too smart to be teaching anything but 400+ I have no clue why he insists on/is continuously put on such low level courses.

COmpletly useless individual...his arrogance is not only unfounded but endless as well. He rambles about how smart he is and all you have to do is basically tell him what he just said to get an A. Uses offensive language and most of the students, including myself, absolutly hated him.

Skipped Half of the Classes, not that much HW, sometimes He didn't even collect it. It is important to go to class even though he rambles on and on. Half the class dropped after the first week and he encourages that. This class is only for those who are ready to think differently.

Schuller is very passionate about the topics, but tends to get WAY off track. I honestly think he's as crazy as he is brilliant, though. He loves to hear himself talk, even if it has NOTHING to do with the subject matter. I learned nothing, but to repeat what he said in class on exams. And don't sit in the front, he has a tendency 2get in your face

It's a philosophy class; prepare to be philosophical! If you're ideas are not logical or coherent he will provide a rebuttal. Part of being in a philosophy class is knowing how to argue a point with clear support. Those who say he's mean and angry probably should not be taking philosophy classes. Ultimately, he's a great, and smart professor.

Tried mightily to crush my soul. Has a tendency, if you're paying attention at all, to get up in your face and yell at you. Excessively dogmatic (straight Lyndon LaRouche line)with his interpretations of the classics. Preaches the personal experience of discovery and knowledge, but grades on how well you parrot back his words.

I got a B in his survey. Tough stuff, but he knows it inside&out. I've heard he's Catholic... does he teach Thomas? Wish I had more time and wiggle-room in my GPA but phil isn't my major. Miami is lucky to have him.

Schuller is a philosopher. He identifies problems very well, and although he gets tripped on the solutions, he is still amazing. If you suck at life, don't take him, but if your in school to learn, learn from him with an open mind, and an open heart
