I loved Zacair, but not the outside website, textbook link. There were weekly (extensive) chapter readings, and after each chapter there was a test that was unlimited on time, but did dock points if you got an answer wrong. So it was annoying to have to take these tests. He does expose students to amazing readings/videos, and he really does care!

Prof. Zacair is one I would recommend for everyone! I took the class fully online and it was very doable. Sticks to the syllabus, clear and easy assignments as long as you do everything in the criteria, and consistent in the week. Book is not required as all his lectures are online. Mostly discussion boards, a quiz a week, and 3 exams.

Prof. Zacair is very knowledgeable and his lectures are interesting. He's not a tough grader as long as you follow his guidelines. There are daily, but sometimes weekly, oral presentations followed by a brief class discussion. One midterm, one oral presentation based on a primary source, and a final 8-page paper.

Philippe Zacaïr is an awesome professor! He is truly passionate about History and does an amazing job teaching it. He is clear about what is expected from the students. He posts his power points on Titanium and answers any questions you may have. Fun fact: he is quadrilingual! Extremely intelligent man. Take his class! You will learn ALOT

Took the online class, fairly easy. Discussion every week, respond to 3 peers, and a quiz. Opens the forum on Monday and you have until Sunday night to finish everything. One midterm paper and one final paper. Both only 2 pages. One video project, have the option to work in a group.

Took hist110B online. not a difficult class. Grades are midterm and final papers. online quizzes, discussion boards and a video project. Really manageable class, IMO it would be hard to fail. His video lectures are great and help ALOT in writing the papers:) ALSO the book does help! some info is there that he does not give in lectures.

He's very nice and helpful but the class requires you to read and participate in online postings along with class participation on readings. The tests are straight forward he provides a study guide as long as you do it you should be fine. It isn't you typical multiply choice test. He assigns one research paper and if you go see him he will help you

400lvl, Class can be hard. One of the smartest people I've encountered. Accent is there but it's not a problem. Goes out of his way to help students. Review drafts of papers which made mine better than it would have been. Occasional pop quiz. Do hw, follow his tips, ask questions, and you'll pass. My father is Cuban so he came and spoke to class.

Zacair is a dedicated scholar and his research interests are fascinating! His courses almost always have an essay - but he give you a lot of resources to help you research and write. LTAM 300 is not his original class, but he brings a rooted perspective to the material when he teaches it. Take him if you have the time andor interest!

He is an EXCELLENT professor... if you are hard-worker. People who emphasis on his accent should try to earn a doctorate here and go and teach abroad :) He is very organized and you will learn lots of thing in his class.

Zacair is a great professor;however, understand that he teaches as if every student is a history major, so if you are taken hist 100 and lower division classes you might not enjoy it. As a history major graduate I can tell you that Zacair knows his material. He can be strict but by the end of the class you've learned a lot and he's very helpful.

Has a very strong accent, but he is aware and corrects himself. I do not recommend taking his 2 hour 45 min class, it is very hard to sit through. Lectures and material not very interesting, and he will call you out in class. Especially if you are not paying attention. I would recommend taking course with a different professor.

Taken a couple of courses with him. Like others have said, he has a strong accent, but it doesn't really effect anything. Lectures can be a little bit hard to stay awake in (he will use ALL of the 3 hours of class), but not every class is a lecture. He's really funny too.
