This class is a joke, and the professor makes it a joke. Lectures are literally read off the powerpoint without extra explanation, that he posts the powerpoints on the website, making it pointless to go to lectures. Then he has the nerve to complain and threaten students for not going to class. Despite, this "was" an easy DEC (as he's now retired).

He is really nice. Attendance isn't mandatory but when the guy checked himself out of the hospital the day before and isn't feeling well but makes the effort to show up,the students should too. The attendance emails only came after people would show up for five min. and leave while he was talking. I would reccommend him for a dec.

he is a nice man, but a terrible professor. all he does is talk about his wife and his nobel prize. the tests are based on review sheets that are only online for about three days. almost nothing covered in lectures is on the tests, therefore it is pointless to go.

This guy is extremely ridiculous. He first stated attendance is not mandatory then he sent us an extremely long letter complaining why no one shows up in the class! Easy test, but horrible professor because you never know what is in his mind!!!

Prof. Varanasi specifically says in his syllabus that class attendance is not mandatory, BUT--despite this, he feels the needs to send sarcastic, nasty, condescending emails to the class, in which he calls the absentee--among other things- "Ungrateful," "Ungraceful," and "delinquent." Real jerk, if he has no attendance he has only himself to blame.

This guy is legitimately out of his mind. Wait until he sings to you in class. That said, this is a VERY easy class. Attendence is not mandatory (I think I went 4 times and I got an A)- just skim the text and if you have any common sense you'll pass the tests.

Very easy class, just read the chapters he says are going to be on the test. No point in going to lecture since nothing he says is actually on the test. Gave out a sample final with answers and half of those exact questions were on it. Easy A.

Don't bother going to class b/c his accent is so thick that's he's completely incomprehensible. Relatively easy class; he gives you a lot of sample questions/ answers, and then puts them on the tests. The text wasn't even worth buying. He went crazy in the middle of the semester, though, and would yell at the beginning of every class!

Professor is actually considerate of his students. You can tell how much he loves teaching ATM. The tests were pretty easy because he gives you sample questions that help you get an A on every test. There is a lot of reading involved, but if you don't understand something, just ask professor and he'll be happy to help.

The professor loves to keep an easy going class, the problem is that his tests are very much not a joke. The reading is confusing and the TA's like the teacher a little off the deep end so also unhelpful. You can just not go, but youll pay later.

Comment:

A lot of people complain about the professor but he tries really hard to make the class funny. If you think hes hard to understand just dont go to class but be sure to read the text. The tests are a joke since you only have to answer a certain amount out of however much he gives. Easy class if you want to just fall asleep or not show up.

DON'T take this class if he is teaching it, unless you are the kind of person who just buys the book and doesn't go to class. He's a nice guy, but he spends the first 20 minutes or so messing with the computer, and usually doesn't get it to work. His lectures are a lot of babbling, and the stuff on the class is NOT in his lectures at all.

Most ass-backwards class I've ever taken in my life. Spends a half hour trying to figure out his computer. Lectures are USELESS. Closed book exams, but gives you 25 questions that he grades the correct 15 of. But the questions are out of chapters you weren't supposed to read, and are ridiculous. Spends more time singing than lecturing. I swear.

This man is a good teacher. He has a heavy accent, but is not incomprehensible. His tests are open-book and attendance is not mandatory (but helpful). Any negative comments are ridiculous. Half of the class didn't even purchase the textbook until after the first test, and criticized the prof. He is not great with computers but is a great lecturer.

Cool guy very smart and and insightfull. VERY VERY VERY STRONG accent, which makes the material more incomprehensible during the lecture. He doesnt take to kind to critism. However he has a interesting grading style that students favor.

Do NOT take this class. He's a nice guy but he is absolutely insane and he has no respect for anyone else's views on things. He is incomprehensible 97% of the time and the other 3% he is babbling about something completely irrelevant. Tests are impossible and have nothing to do with the textbook, even though they are open book. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
