Comment:

I never enjoyed English class, but the subject matter used for the course was an eye opener for me. I learned more of struggles by Aztec, slaves, Native Americans, and women's right that would never had occurred if Prof Williams didn't select it. The subject matter presented was a social awakening for me. Show up to class and try to listen is key

WORST teacher I've ever taken at West! Horrible teacher, I went from straight A's in all my english classes to just D's on my paper and she wrote see a tutor. Never needed a tutor before and now I need one all of a sudden along with the entire class. Defiantly it's the teachers fault and not the students if we've come from straight As to that! DON'T TAKE HER! WAY BETTER PROFESSORS AT WEST!

By far the worst teacher I have ever taken at West LA College. It's been years since I took her class and I still tell everyone I meet to avoid her class. Rude, arrogant, locked students out of classrooms, didn't accept work from students that were on time. The only things I enjoyed were the readings and when class was over. AWFUL PROFESSOR!

I honestly don't understand what happened with the course. The instructor was M.I.A. for about a little over a week and then started packing on the work the day before thanksgiving in a rush effort to have everything done before the end of the semester. Ultimately ending with extensions that weren't held up to.

graded 1 paper during the semester. When the semester is over she grades the other assignments which you dont see and then assigns a Final Grade of D. She closes the class site so you cant communicate with her. I received my Final Grade January 6, 2016. I have never seen my graded assignments she did not return the assignments. Very dishonest .

A tough work load, "required" about 6 books only read half. Assigned two papers at the same time and additional reading to an unrelated topic. She is very informative on the historical matter we read about. But this is not a class for the average student. I suggest if you take this professor , let it be the only class you take. Needs full focus.

Lectures were hardly informative and seemed to be more about her rather than writing assignments. She seemed to be annoyed if anyone asked questions or had a different opinion than her. Very tough grader and high expectations. If you're looking for an "easy" english class stay far away!

Stay away!!!! I felt like I was teaching myself and all the grading was subjective. You will get a C or less just because she doesn't like your writing. If you are poetic or artsy- don't take!!! You are forced to write monotone sentences. Professor treats us like a job and not a passion.

DON'T TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS! I wrote near five pages in the first essay and only get a five-line review. 7 books are needed. The second essay is graded after almost two months after the due day of the essay. She will asks you to attend a event cost five dollar each person for extra credit. Wanna keep your high GPA? Then keep yourself away from her.

Took her online class. 5-6 books required all dealing with slavery. I felt like the people we read about. Demanding work load - do not take with other intensive classes. The professor can use some lessons in manners. Sheer willpower is what helped me to see this class to the end. Maybe 5-8 people left by end of semester.

Ms. Williams returned our assignments toward the end of the semester; my last 3 papers wern't returned- so I have no idea how I did. Teaching is minimal- rather we were required to read and write on the assigned material and were graded very harshly. I am a consistent A student and she gave me a C on everything. Teacher is hard to talk to.

Very lazy teacher which is ironic because her grading is strict and by the book. Grades your papers at the last minute and is always extremely late in giving you feedback- I recieved my first graded paper AFTER the middle of the semester. Williams also does not provide fresh and current feedback to class topics, she rarely interact with students.

To be perfectly honest, she wasn't that hard of a teacher. You just have to disregard the textbook (I literally forgot I even had it), most of the books, and only use the syllabus if you REALLY need to. If you need everything spelled out, avoid. But if you can write an essay that wouldn't be disappointing at an 8th grade level, you'll do fine.
