Although he's not the best at sharing it, Prof Simpson has a wealth of knowledge and a jolly personality. I mostly took him for his photography classes but I also needed to take a field biology class and his wasn't too bad.

On tests: As many handwritten notes as you want for written tests. 1 45 minute presentation & 1 15 minute presentation + 2 "scavenger hunt" type tests. The guidelines look absolutely impossible: Follow the spirit of the instructions not the letter. Lectures: are fun, but you won't learn/you have to teach yourself everything on the tests. EC: tons

He is more of a "hands on" type of professor. I have taken several classes with him. In Bio102 he lets you use notes on his tests if you hand write them. If you enjoy Biology, I highly recommend him. He is very knowledgeable on the subject and I learned a lot in his class.

Prof. Simpson is an extremely interesting man with great stories. If you like biology as much as he does, you'll be fine. His homework is ridiculous - bunch of hand-written notes due each week. Not many quizzes, but the homework's a doozie. He's particular about a lot of things, and you can only know your grade if you go to his office. Not my fave.

Simply put, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PERSON. First and foremost he loves himself, students are a distant 4th place. Does not want to help students. Would rather throw out name of his past students that have gone on to better things all in the name of making himself look good. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

Dr. Simpson is a nice guy, but I could not stand his teaching style. He doesn't grade anything himself - the students do it all. What we were doing in the book chapter (we were required to do all the chapter questions with illustrations) rarely correlated even slightly to what we were discussing in lectures.

If you are interested in biology and want to learn it, you will love Prof. Simpson and his classes. He is one of the best people I have ever had the privilege of meeting and learning from in my entire life. Homework is hard but it is definitely worth every moment! I've taken 6 of his classes.

I have taken Simpson for Bio 102 and three sections of Bio 295. Simpson is one of the most intellectually amazing people that you will ever meet. he requires you be able to read a piece of paper and figure instructions out that he clearly lays out word for word. If you can follow instructions, write a lot, and be engaged, then this is an easy A.

One of the time intensive classes I've ever had, but one of the most rewarding. I miss his class so much; however, I do not miss the homework. You really have to work for your A, but it's a lot of fun along the way. Hands down my favorite science professor. I wish I could carry him with me to my four year university.

I had him for lab and he was really good. Doesn't give quizzes and is very knowledgeable on the subject. Apparently he gives a lot of time-consuming homework for the lecture portion of the class though

LOTS LOTS of homework. About 10 pages of handwritten work due each week, with coversheets on everything. Makes you use a "special pen". Do the work, and take LOTS of notes and you'll get an A. Also go to his office hours, that's the only way you'll know you're grade. He provides no feedback in class.

The professor is a very interesting guy, but the material he teaches does not pertain to what you actually do in the class. If he did give homework assignments that were literally about 10 pages handwritten due every week, I would actually like the class. It is straight mindless book work that is very pointless. Tells what he expects, but very anal

Prof. Simpson is one of the most intelligent people I know and he is eager to share his knowledge with his students. The first half of the semester is kinda rough, but after the midterm, it gets easier. He does talk a lot about other topics, but it does pertain to the class. It is one of the funnest classes I've had.

Prof Simpson is one of the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic teachers I have ever had. Not only does he teach, but he draws you in and makes you excited about biology. If you stick with it despite being kind of hard, you will take away practical knowledge. He's awesome, just don't take him lightly.

If you want to listen to someone who doesn't even teach the matierial you need to know, then Prof. Simpson is the teacher you want. I'm in his lab class and he goes on and on about stuff that has nothing to do with our labs. He knows alot of stuff but he shouldn't be a teacher.

He teaches photography with great knowledge of both technology and the natural world that he expects you to photograph. Course requirements are challenging, long list of assignments, some difficult. But he is friendly and an expert in wildlife photography.
