Comment:
Robert Jones does not grade fairly--the way he grades essays are based on his opinions and what he THINKS you should write about rather than giving genuine critique about the content of your essays. He comes up with his own ideas of what you should write about, even if it is not relevant to your topic.

he is an ok professor. he isnt really clear on what he wants in his papers, and not even my english tutor for the class knew either. best advice is to go to office hours and tell him to go over your essays and receive direct feedback.

Professor Jones is way better than most English teachers. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend attending his class regularly because he gives good advice and examples for upcoming papers. 5 papers, one presentation, and one final. It is easy to get a good grade if you put in the effort.

He's really an alright professor. Be prepared to write a lot and make sure to do well on his essays. They are basically your entire grade. His lectures are not necessary and he is easily one of the most boring professor i have ever had but this really is an easy class.

St. Martin's guide is mandatory. He gives A's to paper and effective feedbacks. I never expected that I could get an A on my essay. Definitely will take him again.

Comment:
He is so sarcastic and honestly kind of rude. He treats the St. Martin's guide and the novel Jpod like they are the bible of English. They are honestly outdated material and they are really worthless. His grading criteria for his first 3 essays were actually useful but once we got to essay 4 and 5 they were literally useless.

Professor Jones was the best English professor that I have had so far he really cares about his students and really tries to make sure that everybody passes the class. When you visit him in office hours he really helps you define your essay and helps you figure out what you are going to talk about. If you get the chance to take his class do it.

English 4 with Jones is very easy. If you stick to the structure of essay format he teaches you will do well. He did not grade too harshly and is always offering help in his office. Class was very boring, all he does is talk. No engaging with students and often repeats himself. But if you're taking ENG4 he is a good choice

He assigned 5 different stories, so 5 essays total NOT including the final. He grades fairly and very lenient. He will posts notes online. I passed the class with a B without reading ANY of the books. I basically read his notes and googled and passed. Two oral presentations but is really easy, no need to freak out.

He grades hard on the essays. I would go to office hours often and he would be very helpful, but he would want more on the essays. He is also uninteresting at times.

Don't take Eng1B with him. He assigns too much work. 5 essays and 2 oral presentations, 1 final and on top of that, 3+ chapters of reading each week. I went to his office hour and asked him look over my essay, but still received a bad grade even though I did everything he asked...

English is an unavoidable class that we all have to take. If you want to keep your GPA up don't take 1B with him. Essays are hit and miss; you could put a bunch of effort and time into it and at most get a C. You mainly need the textbook; you can sparknotes the reading materials.

Do not take him! Even if you go to his office hours and think you'll improve, your grade decreases every essay. You don't know what he wants and this class hurts your overall GPA.

His lectures are pretty boring sometimes and he's not a really good English professor. He's pretty helpful during office hours, but at times, he seems like he doesn't quite know how to explain the material to you. I didn't learn much from him. If you can, find a better one.

The way he wants his essays is unlike.the other professors, making his class difficult. The way he speaks and teaches makes you not want to go to class even though you need to.

SO CONDESCENDING! Sarcastic (in a bad way) too. I got A's on all my essays for him so far, but it's hard for me to even drag myself to class most days because he's just awful. Attendance is mandatory if you want to receive credit for reading quizzes. Easy prof, disgustingly easy material, but I have little respect for him. Uninspiring and insipid.

When I took him in the summer of 2010, he gave B's and C's on people's essays. He is a medium grader. The highest grade in the class was a B while the lowest grade in the class was a C-. He is helpful though. If you attend and participate in his lecture, seek help, do homework, and other things, I will guarantee you will pass the class.
