Was fortunate to have Dr. Chapey for Aphasia. Her professional experience really helped illuminate the various pathologies. By having us partner to present chapters from the text we really got to know our topics while collaborating with others. EVerything I know about elders, adult language and pragmatics I owe to her.

If you want to learn something, don't take her. If you want an A, go for it. Talks about getting rich a lot, shopping, her grandson, her ovaries, the WSJ...hardly anything about speech. Assignments are easy, you have to read a book that's not speech related and write a report. Tests are easy, questions given in advance.

guys, i do not understand where those aforementioned comments come from, but i'd like to stress that prof. Chapey is a brilliant person and mentor. She gives life-important knowledge how to communicate, be intelligent, creative, and financially independent. Moreover, from the depth of her kind heart she motivates&teaches to be a thinking person.

To take Professor Chapey you must be willing to teach yourself the material. All in all she is not very helpful and does ramble about her personal life. Learned very little and very vaguely about the material. She was not clear of what was expected.

This professor is unbelievably rude and condescending to her students. She does not make herself available and she does not teach anything. She is resting too comfortably on her tenor. If you are not comfortable with teaching yourself the material, avoid at all costs!

This professor talks too much about her personal life (i.e. at this time i know all about her stepson, about her first husband, about the shoes she likes and the clubs she belongs to)instead of teaching and explaining phonetics, a rather complicated class. It is simply up to the students to learn on their own, or to see a tutor.

Very hard..try to avoid her and she is also very rude..transcribing is the only important hing in her class..gives 2 papers a few quizzes, a midterm and a final exam..you really wont benefit in taking her class and will cost you because you need to know it for the future spch classes

She's deff an old school teacher, all proper, but she does have a funny side to her and she can imitate different accents...as for the class, transcription is the key to doing well, once you learn it then it will become second nature...If you have an interest in the field she knows a lot and shares a lot of her cases...her downside is that she rare

I do not like the way she talk to people. It is not professional she screams at you as if you her child. She is not considerate or understanding at all. Do not take her all she talks about is designer clothes and how to have standard speech like who the hell cares about what she wears.I was not fond of her class.

She heavily stresses transcription. Practice hard int he beginning, because she goes a bit slow and then jumps relaly fast, so you need to learn the basics well....the theory portion doesn't matter much, but you need to knwo the basic terms for speech 31 anyway.

She is brilliant in speech pathology but poor teacher. transcription counts the most. dont worry if you screw up on the theory portion. i got A's on all my transcription part but a D on theory test and i got an A in the course.ALWAYS practice transcribing, read the textbook EVERYDAY,and be nice to her and talk to her outside of class,she'll like u
