Comment:

Very knowledgeable on the material. Has a lot of real-world experience that he shares with the students. He is a little unorganized when it comes to posting lecture materials for students to study outside of class. Tests are really hard but if you put the effort in during class, and practice outside of class, you'll learn a lot and do well.

Professor Blake was a great teacher. He makes you do a lot of reading so that you can better understand the hard material that you cover in the class. He genuinely cares about the students and their success. His class is very hands on and will have some quizzes so be prepared or you will not get a good grade. You will learn a great deal.

The class is a bit tricky due to the material and you have to stay on top of things so as to not fall behind. It won't be the easiest class you take and a good grade will require some effort. It's a technical course with a hands on portion. The Professor is good and caring overall.

Please dont ever take this class. Save yourself this struggle. Even if you have to wait until next semester to graduate don't put yourself in this horrible class. He gives so much readings, he never lectures in class instead he just makes stupid jokes, and then he expects you to do the homework(36 pages) and prepare without help for the tests. No!

I was honored to have the opportunity to learn from Dr. Blake. He is a wealth of knowledge that he shares in an academic manner and is then able to help the information be applied in a pragmatic fashion to the real world. Thank you Dr. Blake!

Easy to talk to but doing the actual work is another. Essential to come to class because it affects test scores and project. Very unorganized. Get late grade scores and not justified. Would recommend taking someone else if possible.

He's very nice in person, but actually very unorganized. He should not teach this class as this is the very important class for this major. I found that I learn more about data warehousing from other class than this one. Lecture is hard to follow. Confusing when grading and don't give students second chance. Avoid him if you can, don't learn much.

He has a good personality and always willing to help. His lectures are confusing. He will never be straight to the point you have to work hard to get into it. Never gives direct answer to any question you have to make your own search later on.

Already almost half of spring 2015 is gone in snow storms.. The prof spent the entire semester spinning around one single topic. Very confusing lectures, and often spent much time talking about irrelevant subjects which are not related to the course. No Lab exercises!? I wonder why?! Very tough grader. Barely learned anything from his class. Avoid!

He seemed nice enough & was willing to offer 'help' whenever you needed it, but the bottom line is that his class was confusing, teaching approach lackluster, and his grading scheme defied any sort of logic. I have worked professionally in systems design & related roles for many years, and this class was not reflective of reality. Avoid if possible

I have taken multiple undergrad classes with prof. Blake: database design, system design, data warehousing. He has a lot of experience in the field and knows all current trends in technology. I really enjoyed the lectures and consider his database design class one of the best! You have to put in some work and make sure to do extra credit assign..

He is a good guy, and he is always willing to answer your question when you approach him. But his lecture is confusing, and his grading doesn't make sense at all. You won't learn anything from his class. But if you do your best and talk to him often, you will surely get a good grade.

A genius in IT. A great teacher whose expectations being an MIT Grad are quite high. He s not gonna give an A except to 1 or 2 brilliant kids of the class. I learnt a lot despite getting a mediocre grade. He s Morpheus from The Matrix. He can only show you the door, you are the one who has to walk through it!

At first he seemed to be a really nice and helpful guy. But when it came to grading the projects I felt completely left alone. I asked for help numerous times but he never really answered my questions. His feedback was useless and there was no way how people can improve on that. Long story short: You wont learn anything + you wont get any help

Roger Blake teaches the most ineffective, unorganized, unclear, inequal graded and boring class I have ever visited in my entire life. I spent the most work on his projects and really liked the subject, but Roger Blake neither did like my work, nor did he make any efforts to give me a good feedback when I asked him how to improve multiple times.

This is one of the best professors. Just read up on the material, he makes it really easy so that you dont have to read the whole book, just the important information. Do the assignments for extra credit. Attendance is at your discretion but he revises for the exam so....An easy A
