He uses a variety of teaching skills and encourages class participation. A teacher you can joke with. Shows videos in class, so although attendance is not everything, it's in your best interest to show up and pay attention to better your understanding of the information.

Dallek is an amazing professor. He gives you plenty of chances to upgrade test scores before you take it and even gives full credit for late assignments as long as they're turned in within the next two classes. He gives notes to go with the reading that you fill in so you know whats important . The notes arent for a grade but are very helpful

He is one of the greatest professors on any NOVA campus and by far THE best professor for History. He is VERY lenient, kind, and nice. He allows students to do an "Upgrade" for a test, which is an extra credit opportunity that can add 10-15 points on an exam. He gives take-home essays with tests and is lenient on their due date. Great Professor!

Currently taking his class - I would write a review after but I can tell what type of professor he is already He is fantastic, kind, and lenient. Passionate about his subject, good orator, all about fairness. Participation is graded -- just raise your hand and answer his questions. He will not belittle you if you're wrong - absolutely reccomended.

His tests are really easy. They're literally right on the study guide and crossword puzzles he gives you. Reading the textbook is mandatory to complete the chapter homework. The homework is a lot of writing, but the answers are right in the textbook. He doesn't take off points for late assignments, and he doesn't care how late you come to class.

I'm not very good with history but I have learned so much with Mr. Dallek. Dont be afraid to ask questions. Participation matters !!!!!!! He gives cross puzzles for homework and expects you to read the question and answer it. He grades on attendance, participation and tests. No quizzes. Only 3 test & 3 papers. You will need to purchase the book.

Mr. Dallek is the best teacher/ professor I have ever had. All of my essays were take home essays and the topics were very easy to write on. His tests were all "personalized", meaning your class chooses how many questions you want to answer. He really wants you to succeed and if you do all your work, you will get an A.

Mr. Dallek is absolutely the best History teacher I've ever had! I learned more in his class than I had ever learned about US History as a child/teen. I don't need the second half of US History for my major, but I may still take it just to learn more about history. He's honest and puts things in a context that you can easily understand.

Although he may not be the most mentally challenging nor demanding of professors, he is very clear in what he expects from his student. It's quite simple- show up, do the readings, study for the tests & you will definitely get an A.

Prof Dallek makes history interesting. He expects participation;listen and be engaged. He hands out note taking guides, and crossword puzzles, both are good study aids for tests. You write a few essays as well. Pretty easy but a lot of work (I took a summer class though)! I highly recommend him, his teaching style was very effective!!

Mr.Dallek is a great teacher. I have little interest in History, but had to take the class as a requirement for my degree. He is a very entertaining story teller and has a way of connecting to history to the present. He is definitely outdated as far as technology goes, but it is kind of endearing. Attend class and do the reading and you'll get an A

His lectures are entertaining enough. Classes aren't too long. His tests are made for the students success if you listened a lot and studied some. He stays on topic a lot, not much room for discussions. He sticks to a few solid points and always goes back to them throughout the semester, which i found an effective way to learn.
