class had a fair amount of reading, but everything was covered in class. Essay prompts were confusing, but grading was fair. He's really passionate about the subject. Overall, not too hard a class as long as you do the reading and Buckmire is really nice.

Comment:

Took a freshman "core" class with him. I've heard he is an ok math teacher, but IMHO he very much plays favorites and was distracted and unhelpful when I tried to use his "office hours" for clarification on how I could improve my grade. Not sure he even read my work! In fact, he made me wait while said faves cut in front of me. MEAN! :(

Appears uninterested in the class, has a tenuous grasp on the material, holds and cultivates grudges against students...What mroe do you want? He's not an idiot, but I highly recommend avoiding classes taught by Professor Buckmire.

He's a decent teacher. He always made it to class or had a substitute come. Covered all the material in linear algebra and gave lots of extra credit. Very fair grader. Class would have been more rigorous with some of the other math professors though.

He moves very very quickly, too fast for me, and always gives homework on notes he hasn't covered yet. Be prepared for too many at home quizzes every weekend. He does help you with grades and gives lots of extra credit. Still, not my favorite teacher.

Most of the material covered was fairly easy when I learned it before, but he made it confusing and complicated. Also had a hard time answering questions and made you feel dumb for not understanding. The homework was too hard as well, was graded ridiculously hard, and had very little to do with the class. But as long as you go to class you'll pass.

Not a big fan of Buckmire. He tends to make you feel inadequate if you don't understand something, so it's hard to ask him for help. He's really smart, but I don't think he is very good at teaching what he knows.

Buckmire is a good professor who knows his stuff. Sometimes he gets a little batty during class- but he's a math professor! The material covered in this class is fun and he definately makes it so. However, I did spend much of my time getting help in the CAE for homework...

Buckmire is a little clueless, and he uses too many inside jokes with his co-professor, but he's still decent, a nice guy, and an A is guaranteed in his class if you attend regularly.

He tends to speak too fast sometimes, but if you're on point, you should be fine. He'll slow down for you or speed up for you, depending on the level. This is bad depending on the class. Always makes time outside of office hours. He make have a standoffish air, but he really really cares.

Buckmire is a terrible professor, and has nothing to do with math. You'll learn nothing, but still get a decent grade. He is though a very shrewd politician and very careful about the impression he leaves. Knowing him well, I suspect some of these positive postings are by him.
