Amazing Prof.! He is so great. Although you may find the hw is very hard, he will explain almost questions during lecture before the deadline. So, as long as you appear there, you will fix them. He will give students the range of questions of exams, and his going over lecture is so helpful. Almost the same questions will appear on exam!

Prof Solomon is one of the best math prof Ive had. He is super accessible(12 hrs a week for office hours). He is an excellent Algebraist and teacher. Funny guy too. Homeworks have 10 questions and take about 10 hours per hw. Exams were extremely easy but tests on all fundamental concepts of the range. He has retired though, sad face.

I'm not the biggest fan of Abstract Algebra, but he presents the material in an extremely reasonable fashion. His first exam was brutal but the next one and the final were more than fair (I think to make up for that first midterm). He's extremely nice and helpful outside of class, too, and gives you options for extra credit.

Dr. Solomon is the best professor that I have ever had in college life. His class is inspirational and informative. Do not be panic if not understand the material, go to his office hours or ask after the class. Dr. Solomon will patiently explain everything again and again until the material touch your mind and become a part of your knowledge system

I graduated from OSU in 2016 Dec and am currently in graduate school studying financial mathematics. I miss Prof. Solomon a lot. He is my favorite professor. Every time I study hard math, I remember his class. His class is one of my most precious memory in life.

Took him for History of Mathematics and was one of the most interesting math classes I have ever taken. Dr. Solomon is so kind, compassionate, and absolutely hysterical which makes going to (mandatory) lectures fun. One easy exam (review sheet IS exam), 10-page paper, and in-class presentation. Easy A + actually learning a lot = amazing class! :)

Excellent professor for abstract algebra-teaches the material, and you get to see directly into the mind with a gift for this kind of material. Helpful in office hours. Nerdy Brooklyn Hebrew voice is an entertaining bonus. I sympathize for non-math-majors who had him for calculus, though. IQ off the charts.

He was very helpful; he was almost always available in his office. His lectures were easy to follow; he wrote the book so he could easily make up for any wholes or faults. The homework was time consuming, and the assignments were long.

This is the worst teacher I've ever had. Instead of testing us on the basic concepts introduced in class and discussed in the book, he based all the tests on stupid "tricks". The exams are ridiculously hard. He isn't helpful to students. I went to all the lectures, did all the homework, and have a 3.9 GPA, and I got a B- in this class.

The best person you could have for group theory. He's hard and you'll have to work your ass off but you'll learn group theory inside-out. He grades all homework himself, gives useful feedback, writes up solutions, etc. And he has a great sense of humor.

Generally a good teacher, but assumed that everyone in this introduction to calculus course had already had calculus before. Therefore about half the class failed both midterms, which most of us blame on him not realizing that there are many of us without prior calculus experience.

This guy wrote the book for the math 580 series. If you want to do anything with math other than teach high school, avoid the 580 series, and his book, like the plague.
