He's just not a good professor. He sucks the enjoyment out of writing and if you can't follow his rambling lectures? Have fun with your C's and D's. He doesn't directly answer anything, but I think the worst crime is that he just really made me hate English, something I used to love. Please, pick someone else. Don't do this to yourself. Please.

Mr. Steffen is really something. For an English teacher he has terrible grammar (like writing "decent" instead of "descent" or "you're" instead of "your"), and he has some major argument fallacies in sample essays he writes and will boast about for weeks in class. Beware the essays - follow his sentence counts/format exactly or he'll mark you down!

Professor Steffen is very passionate about his work and keeps you motivated! Tough grader but goes into great detail in his lectures! A lot of work at the beginning of the course but work load lightens towards the end of the semester!

Professor Steffen is pretty cool. He can be a tough grader on essays, and a bit demanding but just follow the guidelines, give him what he wants and you'll pass. He wants to see you thinking outside the box. In addition to the papers, he gives other assignments where you can either gain points or severely damage your grade. Do not miss class

He might seem like English class has turn in to a political debate at times but Steffens is a good professor. Stick to his formula when writing essays and use creative thinking. Just show up to class and do the work to pass. Homework was journal entry or writing a paragraph of the essay.

Steffen is an excellent professor he is always helpful and is there if you have any further questions. He does talk a lot but it makes class go by faster. Just follow his guidelines for essays and attend class.

It's important to know that while his essay prompts are very formulaic, just because you follow the formatting doesn't mean you fully understand the assignment. He is very helpful in the part as he helps you have an idea of what to write and how to get to point you want to get too. Overall i think he's one of the best professors out there.

I took him this spring and I think he can be a little bit of a tough grader on essays. Otherwise it's an easy class, JUST DONT MISS. You have simple things due each class, but it was like,have a paragraph done from your paper or show me 3 sources. Super easy. We work on the essay in class so it's helpful to get them done. EASY class to pass honest.

It was a an easy class. I took this class over the summer. We had a couple of essays to do that were really structured to how he wanted them, but it was really straightforward. There is no way to mess up if he tells you exactly how to write the essays. He used the book a bit, but for very short stories. He was very helpful with answering questions.

I love English but not Steffen. He is repetitive and bad at grammar (He switches your and you're.) Class is easy but boring. I am not engaged enough to do my best. Accepts 2 papers late for no penalty, though! If you love English look for someone more challenging with more passion. If you're just taking this for the requirement, he's decent enough.

This teacher was utterly worthless. He is constantly missing class, but expects you to write papers that he doesn't even fully discuss in the first place. He isn't helpful nor is he professional. He once gave us a week to write a essay for his class, that was 8 paragraphs long!As if we don't have other classes, and jobs that we have to attend to.

Pretty easy as long as you just do what he tells you to. He tells you exactly what to do and you don't have to be a genius to do well. You end up writing about things that interest you so that makes it easy. Really cool guy I highly recommend him.

The easiest teacher i've ever had. He's cool pretty kick back I took him Fall 06 only had 3 essays (super easy and you have like 2 weeks to do them). No boring grammer lectures, as a matter of fact theres no lectures at all. Always went home early! Easy A

He is a great teacher. If you ever needed help with any assignment he is willing to walk you though it. this class is a great class to take he makes it fun. when he talks it makes you want to go to sleep .
