I just want to say(to whoever may be reading this), don't mind the low reviews from others. If you need a strong philosophical foundation to start thinking critically, look no further than this Professor. He's one of the best you can find and one of the best there is. I developed my thinking from taking his class-in just one semester. TAKE HIM!!!

He was absent for most of the semester. Supposedly he was writing a part of a book for a friend of his. He was not a good teacher even when he was there. The tests had nothing to do with the class lectures either. I do not recommend taking any of his classes.

If you have a lot of time and you are really into philosophy, then take this class. Otherwise the lectures will bore the pants off you. The Art of Thinking--didn't really teach me much, other than philosophy is just not for me. Other people find him insightful, just not me.

He is a really nice teacher, but if you're not a philosopher DO NOT take this class! I have never been so stressed and confused over a class before. He has 2 tests and a final which are usually choose 2 out of 5 essays, then a 7 page paper that he gives you no direction in. The essays are very subjective so make sure you say what he wants 2 hear

I had heard such bad things about him, so i was scared to take his class but I loved it. Don't be afraid to state your opinions, but do expect him to challenge them - thats what he enjoys a good debate. he is also a great guy - I went to him for advise and he was so great about it. PS - Just a little unknown fact he sings great too no kidding.

Very interesting class, tests are not all that hard as long as you pay attention in class. You will learn a lot about yourself, and relate philosphy to your everyday life. It's a very mind opening experience. Nevins is one of the best

Before him,I didn't know who I was.I didn't have a real sense of myself or the encouragement to do so.He's touched my life in many ways and I am more than grateful.A professor everyone should have.And to think I 1st took his class on mere curiousityLOL.I wish students could have the insight I have!

The guy missed about 4 weeks of class....he was a horrible teacher b/c he was never there! When he did come he would just talk about bs. He thinks he's a genius...and if you don't agree with him you are screwed!

He's not as open minded as he wants you to think. If you express an alternate view in class, expect him to crush you. He forgets little details like exam dates and due dates. In spite of this, he's a pretty good teacher.
