Comment:

Susan creates a fun class by teaching you through doing. Some lectures can be heavy but she's a caring and funny professor. Slightly harsh grader on APA but she will guide you to make sure you cite correctly. Responds quickly to emails. Get your textbook online (much cheaper). Overall, cares very much for her students and ready to help you.

Comment:

Barnes sometimes comes off as a little spacey but she is EXTREMELY smart. She is an amazing teacher and has won tons of awards for things. I agree she is picky about grammar but she doesn't make the class impossible. She is really approachable and always willing to help you out when you're confused.

This woman talks to you like you are 3...ALL the time. Her assignments/lessons are completely pointless and she is HARSH on grading and grammar. It is useless to discuss something with her, she'll just confuse you more or tell you your ideas are no good. She's also a little nuts about the outdoors. Honestly, don't take her if you don't have to.

What a sweet lady. Class was great! Learned a lot of stuff and definitely appreciated her letting us turn in stuff late (with prior notice- of course). A little effort will take you a long way, plus you're in it to be a teacher, so the work you do in there is just practice. Not a hard class at all and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This class was great. I thought it had the perfect amount of work, it was a challenge but not impossible at all. Shes passionate about what she teaches and you can get an A easily if you do the work...not so harsh on grammer anymore.

Mrs. Barnes was extremely helpful this semester. She has high expectations, but assigns projects that students will be able to use in the classroom in the future. I was much more impressed with Barnes than when I had her for 442.

She is one of the worst teachers I have had at JMU. She grades things to harshly and takes off way too many points for APA. She talks to you like you are 5. I would try and avoid if you can.

watch your grammar! she comes off tough at first, but isnt that bad. just do your work BY THE RUBRIC and do every part of it. the little songs/transitions get so old!
